Agree, but the ball should have been stopped well before he was forced to try and make that save; Boruc would have done better and closed down Ba (even then, I'm not convinced he would have saved it) as he's experienced enough in those type of situations how to handle them; unfortunately goalkeepers need experience to learn too. I would have preferred that experience to come in the cups, but we don't have that luxury. Re his kicking - there's a you tube video on an old thread here showing just how good it is.
Chelsea deserved to win by the margin they achieved. Tactically 'the chosen one' was superior today. Watching tonight with hardcore Arsenal fans provided one insight that may, or may not, have been observed... Dani is seriously struggling in this league. There are no 'scape-goats' for tonight, but he simply is not achieving. For all the free-kick positions in the first half, together with the lack of insight to lay the ball off - lack of heading ability or holding the ball up - is he just another Gaston? I do not blame him for the defeat because Chelsea were very good tonight, but I fail to see him as a replacement or a second lethal option to Rickie.
Tough game. Chelsea are such a threat from set pieces with the three big defenders. Their 1st was a tad fortunate as it broke kindly but there pressure deserved it. Disappointed we struggled to hold possession, credit to Chelsea for that but Rodriguez and Osvaldo both tend to hold the ball for too long and try and take on too much themselves and end up losing it. Shaw was my MOTM, very good game.
Gazza has had a chance to mature...this could be his chance. I just hope it doesn't hit the confidence of the back four. The table is so close that a win or loss markedly affects the league position. The Villa game is not make or break, but is important if we are to maintain momentum. Chelsea are a very good side...we had to be at our best and they had to have an off day for us to get anything from this game. They made life difficult for us, but I also think we gave them a game as well.
I think I'm with CBK today. I thought we were poor all round, generally below par, just didn't flow like we can. Chelsea powered through in the end. Big Vic, what a contrast to the Arse game...... but he is young. Our decision making in the final third was frustrating. Don't doubt the work rate, but yeah, disappointing.
Well, we were 2nd for 55 minutes, but now we will see what we are really made of. I thought we did okay today, but didn't look quite as energetic as usual. But then, the forced subs didn't help our cause at all. Chelsea had a bit too much for us tonight, lets see if we have bounce back ability on Weds. I hope so, as I'm going with a villain mate!
THEVMAN, a close friend of Adam Lallana, and a poster on SaintsWeb has posted about Boruc... ...broken hand. Six weeks.
Gazzaniga made three mistakes: One against Swansea, one against Norwich and another...? Anyway, apart from that bad spell (the same bad spell which Boruc's having, who's a brilliant goalkeeper), he's done nothing wrong and has excellent distribution.
It was the friend who said Lallana was a doubt after a groin problem in training, yeah. Also the guy who pretty much nails the team news every time and occasionally offers tip-offs on transfers. But yeah, it's that guy.
