Managers very rarely get four transfer windows. Managers are judged on results and performances and under Barmby, we were found lacking.
I understand Barmby wasn't sacked for the reasons we all believe. Apparently there was a bigger issue behind closed doors which ultimately led to his sacking.
Apparently if you spill the gossip, but remember to put "allegedly" after the statement, it protects you from any legal repercussions. We're waiting Hattie.
from HDM "Knowing Mr Allam, I think something must have been misconstrued there, because it isn’t great reading, I have to say,” Bruce said. “I will say to the supporters, I can fully understand the history and the tradition, and I don’t think that’s where the owner gets it. “He thinks, going forward, that’s the best way forward, and I don’t think he quite grasps of what Hull City means to them. “We can’t let it drag on. Let’s be fair, he’s put £70m of his own money into Hull Cuty. Without him, there wouldn’t be one as the club would be in dire straits. “Not many people out there would buy Hull City and have the debt what he has occurred. He needs more pats on the back, but certainly, I’m going to try and intervene if I possibly can, and we can’t let it fester. “We need everybody in the right direction and the one thing we did today was create a fantastic atmosphere. We need every week to be like that. “I think we have got to find a solution and the way forward with it, because I don’t think he quite understands that all of a sudden we are on every media outlet first about the name change. “We have got to try, if we possibly can, draw a line under it and move on.” Read more: http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...tory-20246299-detail/story.html#ixzz2mFdYQnlO
We were starting to see our own young players in our squad, and if he'd been allowed to sign anyone as well as Josh King then we'd have probably finished in the play offs. He didn't, it's hardly a secret, but we played some excellent stuff under Barmby, we didn't give the ball away unnecessarily and if we'd have a fully fit squad (or even 2 or 3 more players) then we'd have been there or thereabouts. Besides, Barmby was sacked for what he said in the press, not for on field performances. I said the other way, I'd have loved to have seen how we developed under Barmby if he'd been given the summer, we were probably 1 or 2 players away from being a really, really good side, as Bruce sort of proved.
Bruce is the only person at the club that AA listens to, it will be interesting to see how he responds to this. Unfortunately, he's as likely to sack him, as he is to reconsider.
What's interesting also in that Bruce statement is he clearly states 'Hull City'. Most of the time since the row started he's referred to 'Hull'
It's all true. Especially the first 2 bits, IIRC Hobbs and Koren got injured in the March and we didn't have anyone to come in.
Its not all true but we know Barmby had targets lined up to come and players he wanted to sign, for all we know he may have won promotion the year after, we will never know. All i know was Barmby tried to get us to play possession football, the type Swansea and many other teams play, it takes time to instill that and Barmby was nowhere near finished in what he was trying to do.
Pearson had already got the ball rolling re possession football well before Barmby took over. We were just starting to see more adventurous line ups and game plans as he ****ed off to Leicester. Nige's last game at home v West Ham was still one if the best footballing displays I've seen from a Hull City side despite losing. Quality and fluency of the football was outstanding, Rob Green made a worthy England no.1 performance to prevent himself picking the ball out of his net 6 or 7 times.
With the way Mr Allem is behaving and throwing toys out of him pram does anyone else worry that with his current mindset if Bruce tries to intervene he would sack him to get back at us? Or am I just being paranoid and worrying over nothing.
It's impossible to call what will happen. If he is ridiculously sacked, what will those who support Allam (such as Happy, Craig) say?
Sacking Bruce would be an expensive mistake in more ways than one. Dr. Allam isn't thick. Don't worry about it, I think they get on quite well.
