How is it unambitious to say that a loss at Chelsea is okay given the talent of the team? It's not like my ambition means anything to Saints anyway. All the supporter ambition in the world isn't going to turn Jay Rodriguez into a 25 goal threat.

Would you like us to pretend Jay Rodriguez is Lionel Messi and then trash him for not dominating the game? I'm extremely optimistic about Saints long-term. I like the direction the club is going. We aren't there yet talent-wise, and I'm okay with that.

Hey ho. We lost at Chelsea. I am disappointed at losing at Chelsea. How times change. In recent memory I thought a tough away fixture was MK Dons or Huddersfield.

I'm not trying to be happy clappy, but realistic. We lost at Chelsea. They are second in the league for a reason.

Thought Osvaldo didn't quite do it, Lallana was quiet, Shaw tried but gave away the ball too much. But, I'm still proud of the boys. We lost at Chelsea.

Not going to be gloom and doom, as we lost at Chelsea. Next time we won't. Maybe we won't make the Champions League this year. But, come on, we were in League 1 not so long ago, we don't (yet) have a team of internationals and we still gave them a good game (for 45 mins). We will still win more than lose this year and who knows, we may surprise a few.

Let's draw a blue line and move onto Villa on Weds.

At some stage it was almost bound to happen............We are going to have to get used to the fact that being a Saints fan is going to have it's disappointments along with the highs. That doesn't mean we are being negative in being disappointed in losing nothing wrong in that..........

If that's so then that's the really bad news today.

Blimey, he made very little of that at the time. I can't imagine it's anything major.

I don't think losing Boruc is the end of the world. He's had a lot less to do this season and whoever steps in for him will not be found out in the way they might have been had we allowed more shots.

He's going for a scan according to Twitter - if his wrist is hurting even in the slightest, I'd expect that. However, on the evidence of today I wouldn't be too worried to see Gazza out against Villa as long as Boruc is back for Man City.

Gazzaniga made his debut at home to Villa and played very well...

He's had less to do as a keeper, but a fair bit to do as a sweeper. Davis and our high line might not be the best combination, and I fear that Gazzaniga is still too raw.

Off the back of 2 losses. If you are 3rd and lose 2 on the trot you will drop places. What constitutes a slide is open for debate.

Yes, he is one of those who doesn't make a fuss. Doctor, you're reading this note because my head has fallen off, but I'll wait while you put a plaster on that person's finger..!

And like PSF and others have suggested, Gazza can step up. In all honesty, it's about time for the squad depth or lack of it to reveal itself a little.

Understandable losses. Now if they were against Fulham and Crystal Palace, for example, I'd be there with you. Against Arsenal and Chelsea both Away..? Nah..!

I find that an interesting viewpoint. Given the number of times we seem to have had a result ** Edit: I should have said "certain goal", not "result" ** saved by Artur, I've never, not once, thought he was being at all underworked. I hope you're right and that I'm the one out of step.

I was happy with Paulo today; hopefully the year of extra work on his game has indeed paid off. I also hope that we don't need to find out.

Im not saying they're not understandable losses, just that 2 defeats = drop a few places. I fully expect us to bounce back and beat villa. If we don't then I may be concerned.

Well, he's had time to actually train with the team (including two more mature keepers), unlike last season when he was thrown in at the deep end. Also he obviously has a lot of talent and didn't do anything wrong today when he came on.
Unfortunately we won't know if he's still too raw or good enough unless he plays, we'll just have to trust Poch & personally I've rated him as a better keeper than Davis since I saw him - thought he just needed some time with his team mates to settle in. He had to do that in the Prem rather than on the training ground and lost confidence. Being on the bench recently & stepping in today so competently will have been a boost.
If Artur is injured, it could be the making of Gazza, who knows?
