"I've got to have a conversation with him (Assem Allam) as I don't think he understands history & tradition" in response to AA comments.
"We should be enjoying the Premier League & not about name changes. (The owners) don't understand what it means but we need to stick together as fans and a club"

Poster The_Northern_Lights wrote the above. Must've been on Sky or something, haven't heard it myself.

Seems Mr Bruce does have an opinion after all.

Assem will be wishing him dead as we speak.

Either that or printing off his P45.

He said it on Radio Humberside as well. He was very sensible and careful not to criticize Allam too much whilst saying he understood the fans. A very good diplomat so lets hope he does not fall foul to Allam's temper tantrums.

Lets just hope AA doesn't take this the wrong way and make another stupid decision regarding Bruce.

When Allam sacks Bruce we'll look back at this interview with regret, just like we did with Nicky Barmby.

What he's said is spot on though, he needs to keep both parties onside, and he's definitely made me feel we're in the right hands with him - not that I've ever doubted him before though.

Steve Bruce is successful in his role, Barmby wasn't. That is the key here.

That wasn't the stated reason for his sacking after only 5 months in the job.

That's a myth. He took us from 8th to 8th and we were flying until we got injuries and had no depth because he wasn't allowed to sign anyone Allam didn't want.

If Bruce has said this I think he might have managed us for the last time which will be a massive shame. Allam has always sacked anyone who defies him and it's been my fear for ages that he'll do the same with Bruce.

Bruce was such a good manager for us.

Ah well, Martin Jol is available now? I hear a certain Mr Phil Brown panders to his chairman's whim?

I think it's Bruce effectively pointing out he's bored of the press questions getting in the way of his match summary, so he's diplomatically saying piss or get off the pot. Back me or sack me.

Even if he doesn't have the guts to sack him (let's face it, is this any less of a public criticism than what Barmby said?) he'll hit back in some way. Revoke funding for a January transfer target or something. Remove free tickets for his family.

Assem Allam is ALL about revenge, honour and pride - to hell with anything else, common sense especially.

There's no way he could let this go.

And if he did, it would be the stupidest one of the lot.

    Back Brucie!

So it isn't a myth, I wouldn't class that as successful. Barmby never wanted the job, I know this first hand. The football we played under him was dire, he did okay, but wasn't the right man for the job.

Yeah like that first game at Derby when Cameron Stewart scored and we dominated from start to finish, never giving Derby a kick,

You're right he didn't want it that's well known. He did as well as could be expected under the circumstances with a squad of about 13 players. The football was great. Everyone agreed that at the time. Our only problems were finishing and a lack of cover. Barmby had deals lined up for good players to sign for us and Allam pulled them. One was Fraizer Campbell and it was when he was on the verge of the England squad. I remember seeing Rosenior on the day Barmby was sacked and he was absolutely fuming. Said "If this is true it's a ****ing joke "

We kept the ball under Barmby, but it was always backwards and sidewards. You obviously enjoy that sort of play, I thought we looked out of ideas and a bit stale. Would you class Barmby's spell as successful?

You can understand Bruce though, he has achieved a remarkable result and has Hull City sat in tenth yet no-one is discussing his and the clubs achievements which lets be honest are incredible and we should all be overjoyed.

I would class it as pathetically and embarrassingly short.

Four transfer windows is a common yardstick by which to judge a manager.

    How many did he get?
