Ok but we lost the lead twice and by the looks of the stats, quite quickly. How come we can't hold on to a lead?
Much improved from Spurs, most seasons we'd be pretty happy with a home draw against united, though admittedly this Man Utd team is not the force it was. Great game from Lennon on the right, which is clearly the answer to our attacking woes, and Chadli was also not bad in giving us some width on that side which has been missing since Rose has been out. Paulinho looked a lot better than he has, too. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction, though unfortunately I couldn't enjoy that game as much as I might have, with Michael Owen's persistent droning cocktail of stating the obvious and being very pro-united.
Better but still average at best. Fair result nobody deserved to win. Up tempo compared to recent games but still lacking finesse . That old chestnut keeps rearing it's head again , again, "creativity". I don't think it's in AVB game plan. 2 points out 12 says the "project" has maybe gone wrong.
Levy's face was picture at the end of the game. That usual starey scary one he has when someone is close to the chop!
More like he wanted to make a sacking but it's difficult to do after a draw against Man U, he's probably thinking that he should have done it last week.
Good performance from Spurs in particular from Walker, Lennon, Sandro, and Dawson. I thought Paulinho looked very promising playing up front with Soldado both are prepared to try the one touch flicks which produce chances; on another day 2 could have come off. I hope AVB persists with it. Dembele also contrived to take the ball off United players on a few occasions which is a very valuable trait. No complaints from me.
As well as a decent result and performance our chairman has yet to say that we should all die, which is always a bonus.
you should have had hatful and two mistakes from Walker (partially Lloris) handed a point to those lucky losers!!
Just watched the highlights on FootyTube. First observations… what the hell was that shot attempt by Soldado when through on goal? It was closer to the stands! Should have been on target at least. And secondly, the United penalty was a very dodgy decision. Lloris got to the ball! As usual lucky United!
And Villas-Boas and Man Utd. And Villas-Boas and random hairdressers from Norway. He seems to be lashing out a bit.
If anything is going to get the fans behind AVB, it's Alan Sugar mouthing off to remind us why we're glad he's no longer in charge of the club.
That'll just about do when you balance out the positives and negatives. Much better attacking play. Chadli wasn't great but he worked hard and kept the ball well whilst also providing a good outlet for long balls to suit our more attacking play, as did Soldado who showing the same problems with him not getting across defenders. Paulinho was very good, as was Dembele and I'd have liked to see Dembele get forwards a bit more still. Sandro was great, brilliant strike it looked like it took a big dip late on to send it in. Lennon was at his best in the first half but faded a bit in the second. That front 5 worked well though and whilst I'd like to see Townsend come in on the left midweek, I think we should be looking to build around that set up and show some consistency in selections. Walker was excellent on the overlap even if he stuffed up for their opener but Chiriches and Dawson have to be better than that against a top side like United but in general they did well, although Chiriches was nearly responsible for them getting the opening goal. Vertonghen pretty much the same too. AVB doesn't escape criticism totally though, I thought bringing Lennon off was a very bad call, he'd been quieter but he was still a problem for Evra and I thought we should've been looking to do the same on the other flank. The first half was really promising, I liked the way we used long throws and long passes to speed up out play, there was a real zip about things and we made United look like the AVB side as we allowed them to pass it around infront of us at times and then looked to break. Second half was mostly poor really but we carried a threat again at the end, which was good to see. Deserved point, not great but much better than last week, obviously.
What happened to that fan, who claimed "victory" in trying to claim Sandro should be forgotten and isn't a match for Paulinho, he doesn't post anymore, funny that Sandro, Lennon, two players we need if we stand any chance of getting top four, even with Avb in charge as one thing you can't say about Avb, is that he doesn't pick up points, as he clearly gets enough out of the team to put points on the board and the top 7 is going to be extremely close this year. The lack of style won't be so heavily crtisised after this game as it was better, and at least we showed some fight to get a result but thats all it was, better, which in reality doesn't say a great deal overall, but at least we got a response from the players. I know I harp on about Sandro often, but really this guy is such a fantastic player overall, he sets the benchmark for all our foreign signings on how to settle and show passion for the club and shirt, and I just hope he doesn't have another serious injury as to see him in the team each week until the end of the season would improve our chances greatly.
"I know I harp on about Sandro often, but really this guy is such a fantastic player overall" He is the squad #1 DM. But Capoue is looking like he won't be so far behind.
