Footballers are not role models. This was dreamed up by the press just so they can shoot them down. Footballers havent been role models for 50 years. They are self centred ruthless bastards and need to be to get to the top. If you are picking a footballer as a role model name one? Just look at the best team in the land- a drug cheat- a cheating husband- a prostitute user. A kids role model should be his dad or uncle or granddad.

I'd like to see JVoH back, his wages could be sensible and he's got more than enough talent for this league (IMO).

I also think that we've already committed to a fair amount of spending so far (Fryatt, MacLean, Evans, Dudgeon, Chester, Stewart, Hobbs? which is about £4m+ since January).

Sounds a huge investment to me (not forgetting the amount that the Allams paid for the club too).

We can't live in cloud cuckoo land when it comes to the finances. We are not a Premier League team by right, we shoudln't be fooling ourselves that we are either. Until we release the high earners such as Bullard, Oli and McShane we can't just be throwing cash around can we?

We already have a great, potential, defence of:

    Rosenior Hobbs Chester Dudgeon

We do have Fryatt and Simpson up top who have both proved they can score goals in this division.

We have Cameron Stewart coming back, I think Evans will improve as well.

Bullard and Olofinjana could still be used by us if we can't move them on. We also know that NP and his team are very good in the loan market so I suspect that we will end up with something like:

    Loan Goalie

    Rosenior Hobbs Chester Dudgeon

    Stewart Evans Loan/Danns/Oli Koren/Bullard/Loan

    Simpson Fryatt

I know Bullard probably won't be with us, and Koren may well be off too but even then it's not that bad is it?

Oli played a heck of a lot for Cardiff last year.

I agree with what you're saying, first and foremost the family should be the role model for a child. But to young kids who are passionate about football, support a team and have their favourite players, they idolise them and look up to them. I remember doing the same thing as an 8 year old when i started watching city. You could say the same thing about some music artists who are idolised by young children. Yes the England team have the things you mentioned (i'm still not convinced on the drug cheat thing) but as a young kid, without wanting to sound patronising, do they understand the full gravity of those things compared to adults? The amount of work that footballers are expected to do in the community, visiting schools, visiting the children's ward at christmas etc you can see the influence they have on kids and why they can be perceived as role models.

Same reason as you, I guess; I suffer with minor autism and have no friends as a result.

I don't think being autistic has anything to do with having a sense of humour. <doh>
