    Pulp Fiction.

Well, Bruce Willis plays a boxer, which is good enough for me.

    Is Allerdyce an actor?

    No he is not.

Serious suggestions only if you don't mind.

    Tom Selleck as Dennis Priestley.

Porky pig as Adrian jackpot lewis. Would have to use CGI mind, but sounds big budget so wouldn't be an issue

It's a film based on the life of one of England's greatest ever sporting hero's.

If you can't be serious then it's a sad indictment on you.

    Clint Eastwood as Bob Anderson.

Good to see you back you tart.

Whoa, back up there war child. If CGI is good enough for Lucas its good enough for me. I'd never diss the Adonis.

Cheers, I thought I'd pop by in case people were missing me (not in a Brady way)

There's only one man with the looks, physique and charisma to play the Bronzed Adonis. That man is Ravishing Rick Rude.

He's a 'dead' ringer for Beats, they could actually be the same person.

If he'd have had a Bass sweatshirt on and sovs on all his digits I'd have sworn it was The Bronzed Maestro.

Apart from one small give away clue only the trained eye would notice.

    His package isn't big enough.

It's a good half pound lighter than what the real deal is packing.

Field of Dreams not only goes on the list, but right to the top. Rudy deserves to be on there as well.

I would include This Sporting Life in the ten. However, it is a bit of a travesty, in that the film departs a fair bit from David Story's original book and even changes the main protagonist's name from Arthur Machin to Frank Machin (thus missing an important point about participants in working class sport during the industrial age). Plus it overplays the director Lindsay Anderson's homo erotic tendencies about muscular northern men inflicting 'punishment' on each other. I'll stop right there on that one…

One that hasn't been mentioned was an early 70s film made for TV called 'Another Sunday And Sweet FA'. It was about amateur Sunday League football and was written by Jack Rosenthal (the late husband of Hull's own Maureen Lipman) and directed by Michael Apted. Bizarrely it many ways it hasn't aged…there is a young Anne Kirkbride (Deirdre Barlow from Corrie) playing one of the player's girlfriends. You can still buy the film online. I won't give the plot away but the end is just brilliant.
