Tbh I reckon if Utd had Gerrard in their side back when he first broke through, we would have played Keane and Scholes in CM with Gerrard as an AM playing behind RVN. Basically the same formation as Liverpool played in their 08/09 season, which was arguably Gerrard's best ever, but with superior players.

I think if that had happened then Gerrard would have achieved an even higher level than he has, and Utd would probably have achieved a bit more too. Imo Gerrard has always been better as an AM, or even RM, than a CM - he lacks the discipline and tackling ability to be a top top CM (to coin a phrase <whistle), and Liverpool have arguably held him back by relying on him in the centre so much.

SAF was chewing a ****ing lemon because he offered Gerrard a 7 year deal when he was 13, and Gerrard basically told him to shove up his arse <ok>

Diego I went to the match with his old fellers family back in the day and the snotty nosed kid is proud that he stayed and that the club showed their loyalty to him(first hand info)

Ain't saying he won't look back and think maybe if but he will be a !egend at the club he loves for ever.

He showed loyalty to the club, the club kept the best player they had of his generation. You are right, he will always (quite rightly) be a legend to the Liverpool supporters.

I'm sure he'll finish his career happy with what's he won and he'll be happy to be classed as one of the best ever Liverpool players, and go down as a legend. As you've stated so fair play mate <ok>

In a few years tome SG will look at his medal collection and think....

...If I went to UTD I would have so much more, but he chose the dippers and he has little to show for it.

Will he ****. He'll look back as a one club man and think 'I grew up in Liverpool, and become one of the best ever players to play for Liverpool, now that makes me a proud man'.

It's not like he hasn't won anything. You all might be glory hunters, doesn't mean everyone is ;)

Whatever we think of Gerrard the scouser in the past and I tend to agree with SAF that he was not a top top midfielder, one thing is certain. He should be put to retirement or semi retirement.

His contribution to the match against Hull was an embarassment. When Huddlestone bosses the midfield, you know you are now ****... Apart from the goal he was virtually anonymous and invisible. <ok>
