Bloody hell two mentions for Adrian Paz in just a couple of threads! My favourite was always Micky Stockwell. I agree with Hoppers it's not always about the best player - I used to be in awe of how he gave his all for the shirt every single week. Right back was a position our managers never had to worry about for the best part of a decade - and he could hold is own anywhere on the pitch, even turning out up front for us! What a hero.
I know this is not going to be popular but Stockwell was one of my least favourite players from that era .It was largely because he was a Jack of all trades(and master of none)Granted he always gave 100% and was a great servant for the club(in fact I'm sure he would be very popular with ME in the present financial climate because he would save on the wages of two to three players by his ability to play virtually any position)
I beg to differ, he was an exceptional right back for us - not the best of the best, but as a club that spent more time in the second tier than the first in the late eighties and nineties he more than held his own in the top flight. I'm sure we would all kill to have him on the right side of our defence now.
I agree..............played every position except 'Keeper of the Goal' whilst at the club, you don't get players that versatile anymore.
