Truly awful, too many punts up the pitch from both sides. Total lack of creativity, quick passing, anything. We had a warning before they scored from another corner but we didn't learn from it. Barely made their keeper work at all, powder puff. We are in for a very hard winter. Ipswich were no better than solid and organised with two solid Centre half's in Tommy Smith and Luke Chambers.

Just got home. Worst performance of the season.

McCarthy did a job on us. Could have been 3-0 down after 5 min. As soon as they scored he parked the bus and let us have the ball. He knew we couldn't score. Worrying.

I don't think we actually created a chance in the whole game.

I am sick of Powell, posing in his cap on the sidelines. The bloke is tactically useless. Hoofball gain today, what a turnoff.

At any other Club now he would be shown the door.

Kemorgant is starting to concern me. In a game like this you look at him to supply a bit of guile, it's not going to come from anyone else. But either he isn't fit or he wants to play at walking pace. You see the odd bit of class, but he is not the influential player he was before injury.

Sad to say it, but Jackson's legs have gone. Noticed it last week at QPR, and he was terrible today.

I want Powell out. He is milking his club legend status a bit too much now to cover up his shortcomings as a manager.

Seriously thinking of not going to Yeovil to watch that filth.

Although when Church was put through on the left, but was marginally offside, as he was about to cut it back from the byline Ipswich had 4 defenders in the box, Jackson was the only Charlton player running into the box. Kermit was walking about on the left. Jacko has never had any pace anyway, so I've no idea if his legs have gone.

One of the noticeable features of today's horror show was how we struggled to get players in the box.

I am just astounded that Powell continues to get away with it !

What I would like to see are some new players in and Powell to stay. It shows you how poor the squad is when the choice of Church's replacement is a youngster,Pigott or that poor excuse for a footballer sod all.

If I thought another manager could do a better job I would be calling for a change. If we change the Manager we would still have Sodall, Church, Jackson etc. What do you think a new Manager could do to galvanise these footballers into a winning team, Vol? I notice that crock of **** Palace got beaten with your favourite Pulis in charge, do you think he will save them Vol or do they have inferior players to the rest of the Premiership? So it doesn't matter what Manager they have.

Someone on CL is saying that the Takeover will be complete by early next week, I hope they are right.

Trouble is dick we have now seen that performance quite a few times this season. It's irrelevant what I think Powell as a manager it was evident again today that his peers, including Mick McCarthy, have rumbled him.

    Score a goal...and light a cigar !

There was absolutely nothing coming from that touch line today in terms of innovation or nous.

Agree with all of that Dick. Same views all round here. Volly reckons a new manager would inspire the players, others disagree. Poor result as I don't think Ips are any great shakes, but arguably better than us today.

In the same way as Powell rumbled Lee Clark and Gary Bowyer when we did to Birmingham and Blackburn exactly what Ipswich did to us today?

Or how Paul Dickov completely failed to rumble Powell on Tuesday?

Your comment above, that Powell is 'milking' his club legend status, is off the mark too - where has he tried to use that as an excuse?

Not denying that we were rubbish today though.

I think the question that you need to ask yourselves is Chris capable of moving you to the next level? There is no doubt that he has done a good job in getting you promoted and keeping you in this league. For what it's worth I definitely think that you will finish in solid mid table. I don't think you have millions to throw around just yet so surely most of you will settle of that?

The danger is that by getting rid of Chris you might be throwing the baby out with the bath water! In our case Paul Jewell was a disaster and we needed Mick to come in and sort things out from top to bottom and we are now slowly reaping the rewards. In your case there is no imminent disaster and you need to give him til at least the end of the season.

None of my business just my thoughts!

Well said, totally agree with that. What you get with Mick Mc Carthy's teams is hard work and organisation. Thought Tommy Smith and Luke Chambers were very good for you. I have also always liked Jay Tabb.

Today was an absolute joke. Hoof-ball nonsense for ninety four minutes. Powell just stood there clueless, inanimate, and so out of his depth.

There can be no defending how awful we were today. Everything good about Tuesday went down the pan.

Wiggins and Wilson saw plenty of the ball, yet they couldn't put a decent cross in to the box.

Kermit is still not fit. Jackson should never play out on the left ever again.

The best pass of the match was actually from Sordell, but the hapless referee failed to play the advantage.

Green looked sharp and hungry and needs to be recalled.

Cousins is the real diamond, but I doubt we'll have him for much longer.

There is a miasma of doom hanging over The Valley. What a difference four days make, eh?

Have you looked at the table, JWM? We are in danger of being relegated. If that happens, it will be Powell's fault. His legendary status cannot mask his glaring inefficiencies as a coach and tactician.

Performances like today are hard to stomach and are just too frequent for many fans' liking. The crowds are poor and that is a result of the dross on show.

I don't know enough about your season obviously but all I will say is that there are definitely three teams in this league who will finish below you! Mid Table is my guess.

Our two clubs have had so,e real good games between us in seasons gone by. I cried when yo beat us in the play offs one year and I remember the joy when we beat you at the Valley the year we both got promoted to the Prem! Keep the faith with Powell until at least the end of the season! <ok>

Many people outside of the club were surprised when we sacked Parkinson, yet only the regulars knew how truly awful our football was at the time. A change was needed then, and I am sad to say that a change is needed now. We cannot rely on three teams being worse than us for the remainder of the season, and I even beg to differ whether they actually are worse than us. Moreover, Barnsley will probably gain a bit of impetus from a change in manager and catch us up, and the same could happen with Wednesday, even Yeovil. These are ifs and maybes, I know, but we cannot ignore the fact that we are a poor side with little attacking threat.

As for that play-off in 1998, I went into those matches fearing the prolific David Johnson, yet he did nothing over the two matches. The night before the Portman Road match, I travelled up to Ipswich and actually stayed in a B&B where all the YTS players were holed up. The Scottish landlady, Ivel, put me in a room clad in ITFC wallpaper, rug, duvet cover and lampshades. Apparently it was a method used for galvanising the youngsters' pride in playing for the club.

    Great memories!

Nonsense, MT. He barely gets a look in, and if he hasn't beaten the world after one match, he is promptly dropped. Dross such as Pritchard and a crocked Jackson can do no wrong in Powell's eyes.

Why has Powell dropped Pritchard then, if he can apparently 'do no wrong in Powell's eyes'?

And calling Jacko 'dross' is unfair. I know he's not the player he once was, but he still has the quality, as he showed with his through ball to Church for his goal on Tuesday.
