Got my scarf and badge yesterday, £3 postage evident, well packed, decent scarf which I will wear when watching the Sunlan game withl the lads, might even get the Mags in as well. Good thing is City should on on locally so will still get to see it and bugger all to AA. Turning a bit plastic on Wenesday as I am off to ManU vs Everton and a good night out in Manc; business you understand.
Is there anyone out there who is pro-name change that can perhaps present some sort of creditable argument? I’m not saying everyone who is against the name change always argues thoroughly by any means, but at least we do see and read argued points married with obtainable facts/figures and whether you agree with them or not, a consistent measured approach from CTWD campaign reps and PR. However, the pro name changers seem to simply rely upon hyperbole; fatalism; made up figures; made up facts (some seem to also believe the qualification of fact is to write FACT after a statement) and unfounded or irrelevant assertions. I believe that having poor literacy skills should not preclude anyone from stating their opinion and indeed one or two of the most 'intelligent' and perceptive people I’ve ever known struggled to put pen to paper/finger to keyboard. I know AA’s concept is (as he admits) unsupported by evidence and academic rationale. Naturally, this casts a large doubt for any person who uses evidence to make up their minds. But combining this with those following AA to just make up figures and facts makes the individual posting them look ****ing ridiculous whilst also portraying the pro-name changers as generally confused, inept and weak.
I think you are mistaken in calling opponents of CTWD as pro name changers.I do not care if we are called Hull Tigers.I trust the judgement of a man who has taken us from near melt down to playing Liverpool with Tom Huddleston in our team.
LNB please dont rise to the bait. Let reg start his own thread. Thanks. I've made it clear what this thread is all about
Whoa, Trotsky lad, you've got the wrong thread, we need to get this moved to the comedy thread - DMD, do your stuff! Priceless mate, bloody priceless. Edit: To be brutally honest, the rest is a bit rambly
I call anyone a pro-name changer who directly wants the change, or does by proxy of not giving a **** about it. The latter is the larger of the two camps and also contains many who claim not to be bothered but spend a lot of time defending the name change and being spiteful towards CTWD.
Sorry mate. I forgot that you ran the forum. Can you please tell me where and when I can post so I know. Ta
How do we know the size of the respective camps?I hope ignorance and groping in the dark are not the most accurate answers.
Fair question, in truth, I do not know that for a fact as I have no way of reliably measuring it. However, representations on here are fairly consistent though: ‘I’m not bothered about the name change’ is regualrly trotted out and some may as well add it to their signatures. If this forum is a typical sample or microcosm of Hull City support then I believe I could prove what I wrote (after spending a bit of time digging through past posts). How did you come to the figures/assumptions you used?
You know Leon, for many reasons a lot of people have far more going on. In life to even worry about a name change.. For many it's just not important . Doesn't make them pro name change.
The name change idea divides the support however you want to look at it , the way it has been done has simply made it worse . I realise some people don't care but if other people feel differently you can't tell them it isn't important I would consider CTWD the people who feel strongest about it wether that is 500 or 1000 . To me that is a lot of people and is simply the core of people who don't want to change the name of the club . Even the OSC don't want to change the name and I would consider them very unlikely to want to upset the owner
I included people like my dad who is 91 and no longer goes but is a supporter(unlikely to join CTWD regardless of his views).Lots of people I know who for a variety of reasons are not pass holders but supprters therefore they do attend when they can. Many people live out of the area and attend when they can.For these reasons I did not use the numbers who attended the match against Palace to represent those who attend.I did not use the word regularly which one of the usual suspects implied I did. I really do not think the views on this forum can be used for or against any arguments.A group near me in E2 could not care less about the name change but neither were they bothered about the Udders protest. In my work I get to chat to people who are in different parts of the ground and whilst there are many who are angry about the name change I think the majority are not. For these reasons I think to aim for 12,000 members is not being unrealistic and think that short of that is a bit defeatist.I am not suggesting this figure needs to be reached in the first week but by Xmas/New Year there will be plenty of time for recruiting of supporters(not there families in Australia)
12,000 is ridiculous for a number of reasons. Saying things like this just indicates to everyone you have no idea how football, humans, life in general works. I'd go back to hurling insults at people because at least they're more logical than of any of your more recent tripe.
Feel free to back up with your insights into life. What do you consider would be a successful number by Xmas and why?
