I don't dispute he is the best player in the world right now, IMO he is. But then, that's not what I was talking about either, I said for him to be recognised as the best of all time he may have to go elsewhere and do it again. Ie, Maradona did it at several clubs and dragged them all to trophies. However, should Messi continue his current form on for another five years then maybe he can become the greatest without moving, it will just be debatable IMO.
Ronaldo beats Messi for me as he has single handedly won titles for both Utd and Madrid. He also has a bigger impact at major international tournaments than Messi for me.
yeah Messi just hold the records, scores more goals and wins the league. No player single handedly wins league titles btw, that's just so wrong it's not even funny. Unless I misunderstand, what has Ronaldo done at international level that messi has not?
So would Utd or RM have won the leagues without Ronaldo in their side? Without question the answer is no. Would Barca win LA Liga without Messi. Most probably yes. As for international level, Portugal have Ronaldo, Argentina have Messi, Tevez, Augero, Mascherano etc.
So Ronaldo is better because his teammates are poorer? Damn it Messi, your teammates have let you down!
This is so f**king nonsense that you surely cannot believe that The answer is yes. Ronaldo may be the greatest player we have had in the last few years but United have won titles before and after him.
Yes they could have, of course. What are you trying to imply, that the rest of the Real squad were not good enough to win the league? and while you are at it, would Barca have been good enough to win the league without Messi? yes they were good enough. Real won their last league in spite of Maureen not because of him, they have such attacking talent and he stifled it with his tactics, the 2 legs against United in the CL had clearly shown that the great team they have are and were not suited to his style of football, when Real play hoofball jose style football Ronaldo becomes very important but if they play an expansive open attacking game they are deadly throughout, a fantastic squad they have and have had. Both of those teams have real quality throughout. Lets look at it this way, barca are probably not as good as 2 years ago, but Messi has not been at his best, he's been injured ect and yet Barca are top and Messi only has 7 goals. I think Ronaldo has 17 goals for Real, yet Real are not top, they are 3rd. So this kind of debunks the single handedly idea.
You honestly believe that Utd would have won the title in his last two years at the club had he not been at the level he was?
RM weren't good enough to beat Barca to the league before they signed Ronaldo. He was the main reason they won the league. Ronaldo has scored 17 times this season for a Madrid side that is 3rd in the league. Makes you ask how many goals he would score in the Barca team.
FFS did United not win the title last year ? I cannot recall him playing for United Ronaldo could possibly "carry" a mid table team (like Napoli by Maradona) to a title. But not a team that is already at the top winning titles. yes he contributed - massively. No way can we say Ronaldo carried United and Real. Both will still have been winning even without him.
As far as I can see, RM have the most league titles in Spain You can't just claim it was one player without breaking down what happened in any given season. ozil got 40 assists in a season I think, you make it sound like Ronaldo made every one of his own goals and that all of them were match winners when in fact the bulk are in games already won. There is no doubt he's great, no doubt he's the best player in the world this season but no player wins leagues alone, Put Ronaldo in Stoke's squad and the point will be proven, they would not come close to winning the PL with Ronaldo in their squad. not even make top 4 imo
Yes they were. Real won the league in 2008, a year before they signed Ronaldo. And he didn't help them move an inch closer to the league title in 2010, 2011 and 2013. He's definitely improve Real, but not necessarily any more than they would have improved had they spent their £80m on different players. Real's record in the league is no better since they signed Ronaldo - two titles in the four years before he joined, one in the four years since. Same with Utd - four titles in six years before Ronaldo, three in six years with him, two in four years since he left. He's undoubtedly a great player, but your argument doesn't really hold all that much water imo.
