We would've done if we'd have known about it at the time. He did it snidely behind our backs, 2 weeks before the season started.
Really? So. you'd have missed out on your first season back in the big time, if you'd have known that he was changing the trading name before the season kicked off?
It's not the trading name were bothered about. It's the playing name that he's changing to Hull Tigers. Hopefully it doesn't catch on, Hull Tigers v Welsh Dragons, Manchester Hunter v London Guns on te fixture list will make our great proud sport some sort of no mark bollocks that's been subjected to the dreams of some rugby league loving foam hand waving American. There'll be cheerleaders and goal music before you know it...
Not this year as it's HCAFC this season, and he needs a full year from 1st April to change it (I think). Next season i'm not giving him any of my wages. To be honest mate, most of my mates don't go anymore. Whether that's because they've been priced out or just can't be arsed. I was quite bored watching them in the Premier League last season, because we weren't competing in any sense, and we were being dicked on home and away for most of it. I'd rather have City compete than just go up & lose but go down with everyone saying "oh well little ol' Hull City, didn't they put up a spiffing fight". Plus, the amount of newer fans that came out of the woodwork just to see their other teams was embarrassing, then they ****ed off once we went down.
haha, I know mate, when you were still in the Championship I used to have a sponsorship deal with City & as part of that we had about a dozen season tickets, so I used to go some weeks if Everton were away & City were at home. Once you went up the prices went with it so we didn't continue the sponsorship. However, when I tried getting tickets for any PL game, there was virtually no chance, as you seemingly 'found' about 10,000 diehards overnight. Power of the PL I suppose. I think the name thing is a real shame tbh, as it's providing a massive distraction after such a promising start to the season, under the much under rated Steve Bruce. Allam has seemingly made his mind up, so you might end up with a choice to make, if you still feel that strongly about it come next summer.
Our crowds in the lower divisions weren't too bad, to be honest. I've seen us get 24K in the bottom and 3rd divisions, but then we delivered dross in the championship and it tailed off. I don't understand how anybody can have two teams who play in the same league though. It's the only thing that I know having a prolonged spell in the Premier League will stop. I suppose you don't get this in Liverpool- you're allegiance is straight forward and you stick by it (Blue or Red). I'd love that here. The CTWD group were trying to organise a flag day for the Liverpool match, but the club has hijacked this and said it's now an official flag day. And today they released a statement saying no flags over a certain size (so the tv cameras can't pick up the message) and you can't wave them during the 90 minutes, that's even the normal chequered ones from our club shop.
In fairness having lived in the area, I don't think most of the people that came through the gates when you went up, were doing so to see the opposition. I think they were just lured in by the PL 'product' & wanted to see City play their part in it. Having been to the ground plenty of times as a 'home' supporter, I must admit it was odd sitting in the away end when we visited that first season (I think we came twice, once in the LC?) Always liked the KC & the fans (in the main) are sound. Do you still have that bell end match announcer fella, who screams like a town crier?
Yeah, unfortunately. We got rid of it last season, but they've brought it back this year through popular demand (apparently). Your fans were a good laugh in the League Cup match. Mauled by the Toffees (or something like that) was funny.
is there a petition for the the name change? Hull tigers.... they're gggggrrrrrreat! would sign it. hear me roar.
Somehow Hull Tigers 1 -Liverpool 1 sounds better than Hull City AFC 6 -Torquay 0.Unless I am listening on a transistor radio dressed in a kagool
