Some are saying Zola is on a bit of borrowed time.

I hope he isn't and I want him given this and next season.

However, if he was to go soon, who would you want in charge next?

This is my fear, who would we get? I would guess that it would be someone known to the Pozzo's that most people have little or no knowledge of. If the rumours are true, things could be about to get bumpy.

Sean Dyche would be good. He did well with us and no money, is better at Burnley with a bit more money so what could he do with access to really good footballers?

Ian Holloway would not be good as the players would not understand him.

I dread that Zola is going to become the scapegoat here because I do not think that the Pozzo's will have realized that their system just may not be suitable for the English Championship. Frustrating to think that if they had simply provided a little economic stability in the background and let Sean Dyche get on with managing that we could be where Burnley are now. Unfortunately I do not think that any good English manager (with championship experience) would touch us with a bargepole, because they would not be happy with any system in which they do not have some control over who comes and goes. Their system is not working as we want it to, and as it did for Granada, because players from Italy, South America etc. take much longer to adapt to English playing conditions, culture etc. than they do to adapt to Spain. Also because their model has no real place for the type of loyalty and grit shown by a player like John Eustace - who we now badly miss. My concern is that Zola will be replaced by someone unknown to us with i or o at the end of their names (please not Di Canio !) who will be prepared to be judged on his ability to integrate 10-20 new, young but untested players.

I've no doubt that he will be foreign and someone we're never heard of. He will never have managed in England and have had limited experience from where he has come from. It's the Pozzo way, take an newbie put him in the limelight and see how he gets on. If he fails, he goes and if he does well then lots of money is made. It will all be done on the cheap!
Hopefully GFZ will remain and get a proper chance!

I don't want to be thought of as being offensive but I fear my comments about this thread my be taken as such, my skills at being tactful are not very good. I think this is a ridiculous thread and anybody discussing a replacement for GZ should have more sense and grow up.

Sorry for being childish and wanting to discuss things like an adult on a discussion board. <whistle> A few more losses on the trot and this might well be the unfortunate reality. I hope it doesn't happen though, as I stated in my original post.

If you find your rattle then don't bring it to this or the rumours thread.

I take your point Cornish and you are right, it's the wrong question. However there is a sense of growing frustration and inevitably this manifests itself in speculation such as this. So whilst to discuss a replacement is premature it would be foolish to pretend that people are not muttering about GFZs days being numbered.

For the record of course Zola must stay and try to turn things around, because I can't begin to contemplate the alternatives.

It would be a ridiculous thread if we weren't talking about owners who have already sacked 14 managers giving them an average of a year each ! Who we would want as a replacement in that situation will be completely different to the man who eventually comes here - because no self respecting English manager would look at the job bearing in mind the clubs system of player recruitment. I am beginning to worry about a club where players such as Eustace and Hogg see no future for themselves (despite the fact that it is that type of player we desparately need).

I have been thinking this through for a week or so. Home defeats on the bounce is bound to cause unrest and speculation. But on reflection I think he will be OK for a few more weeks, but come the New Year and we have not picked up I think he will be on his way.
    Cornwall you little tinker....

Rumour has it that Yeovil is a must win...the Pozzos don't wait and wait before sacking, if they think things aren't going right, they get rid.

Di Matteo has been spotted at a couple of home games, but i'd be surprised if he was the next Manager...wouldn't complain though...!

Are we serious? This thread has a touch of Basil Fawlty's "don't mention the war" episode. Things aren't right at the moment, that is all too obvious, but we do have a pretty decent injured 'team' as shown on another thread. It will come good and we'll be wondering what the fuss was all about... we'll soon see, but it's not all about today's match. Not quite, anyway.

Be a lot of pressure on him now
At home to Yeovil is the type of fixture that you have to win
Especially when you are on the slide anyway
I would not be surprised to hear of a meeting on Monday
