What's all this bullshit about adding water? Have it neat like a man.

A whiskey conneusuer will always dilute it down to an abv of 30-35% with spring water. It brings all the flavour out. If you're drinking it neat you are not tasting it at its best. As for adding ice- pah!

I completely disagree about adding water to malt whisky. By all means dilute blended whisky but single malt, especially the lovely, smoky island malts like Laphraoig, Talisker, or (my favourite) Lagavulin, are at their best when sipped neat. That is why they make them at the particular strength they come in. Just let that peaty aroma waft over your soft palate and enjoy!

Mod's Edit: Now copy and paste that into Beefy's, if you would be so kind and we'll go from there, Chilco.

    Indeed..!

Never have. If the whisky is good enough, it can be allowed out on its own.

Can I officially suggest we move this to Beefy's now, please..? I'm as guilty as the next person for having this conversation. Fact is, I may have started it, so let me end it here by suggesting it moves. OK..?

Well lawro has us down to lose this one 2-0. Surprise eh? Says top 10 finish would be a great achievement for us! Does he really hate us or just hate the idea of a fresh club muscling in on the big 6?!

The latter. Ageing football pundits are a very conservative lot.

Neither. He's simply one of those people who will not adjust their held beliefs at any time, for any reason. Last year, his final table had Swansea being relegated and QPR finishing 8th (five points behind Spurs), because at some point he had concluded that the latter was good and the former was not, and damned if he'd re-evaulate.

Did city get the same treatment? If everton were challenging for the title would he be running them down at every chance? If palace made a run for mid-table would he be saying they're not up there with the newcastles and swanseas of this world?

An addendum, after noticing that (despite their occasional struggles) Lawro has yet to predict a Manchester United loss this year, I checked back to years past. He also had them going undefeated in '12/'13, and it would appear that he had them undefeated in '11/'12. In Lawro's world, Manchester United are -- at least, that's as far back as I can find -- 88 games into an unbeaten streak for the ages.

Edit: found the last time that he predicted a loss for United. It was January 23rd, 2011, away to Spurs. That would make for an unbeaten run of 103 matches.

Anyone who wouldn't predict a Chelsea win in this game is being veeeery biased.

As far as ManC and Everton are concerned, they have previous, so they are automatically sleeping giants, unless their circumstances outweigh it. In this case, Everton would be played down, and besides, they are the other half of the Merseyside rivalry. Lawro is definitely not immune to bias. Palace have previous of NOT getting anywhere. Swansea are universally admired, and Toon are liked, are sleeping giants [out cold], so that explains them.

Saints are from the South. They don't play football south and west of London. Everybody knows that. :)

They drew, and somewhere Lawro muttered "never again", and stuck with it.

And yes, the charitable explanation is that he's playing the percentages in order to maximize his points total. Less charitably, he doesn't seem to understand where 'regression to the mean' fails when the mean ain't what you thought it to be.

All the Scots I have met can't spell.

Having just watched question time who gives a **** about the Scots anyway.

They'll hopefully vote for independence then they'll be buggered.

No currency, no shipbuilding, no defence, no EU membership.

The rest of the UK will be a far better place without them and they will have Alex Salmond to lead them onto their utopian independent Scotland.

Following independence we can send them all home starting with everyone called Cameron and then rebuild Hadrian's wall twice as high and twice as thick with machine gun posts every 5 metres and I have volunteered to man one.

I bet he was not happy about missing the Arsenal game! Let's hope we can keep a clean sheet against Chelsea. Final score 0-0

Yawn. Pretty much wrong with all of that. That we are having a referendum at all has very little to do with Alex Salmond, but far more to do with Thatcher, and to a very limited extent, to bigots like you. Unfortunately for you, I suspect the vote will be no. Why not start an English National Party Godders ?. My family members have proved themselves to be adept with the use of the machine gun while serving in the British army, so watch out who is on the other side of your wall !

Third time I've tried to post this...problems with the site...the good thing is that it gets shorter every time I post :) Curbishley just talked on Sky praising Saints...says Chelsea will have problems if they are not at their best. He added that Saints deserve to be top 4 and won't be afraid going into the game.

Tell that to the BAE workers in Portsmouth, they might disagree.
