I would honestly drop Ozil for this game. He has not reached the heights expected, and I know its still fairly early, but I think dropping him would do his some good. Plus its only Cardiff so we don't really need him. Move Wilshere into the middle and start Walcott on the right.

Nah. He might not be at his best, but he still produces killer moments and that is a huge skill to have. Wilshere is pretty bad in that number 10 role and he can't play that position like Ozil can. I think this game is going tougher than lot of us expect, as Cardiff are no mugs, especially in their own backyard.

No way should we drop Ozil. He's not been at his best, but even against Marseille he still produced some slick moments of passing. He's one of those players who even when he's anonymous for most of the game, can still produce that one moment of magic to create a goal. He'll get better too, but dropping him is not the answer.

Also agree that Cardiff will be a tough proposition in their own backyard. I think we've got enought to beat them, but we'll have to be organised and clinical to get all the points. I'm going for a narrow 1-2 to us, but I think it will be tense.

I actually agree with Drudeboy, i'd rest Ozil at the moment, but i'd play Rosicky instead, as he's clearly in better form than Ozil.

You should pick a team on form, not reputation. What i'd go for is:

    Szczesny
    Sagna Mertesacker Koscielny Monreal
    Arteta Ramsey
    Gnabry Rosicky Wilshere
    Giroud

    What we'll get is:

    Szczesny
    Sagna Mertesacker Koscielny Gibbs
    Flamini Ramsey
    Wilshere Ozil Cazorla
    Giroud

    My reasoning is:

Szczesny - Best keeper in the league at the moment, self explanatory
Sagna- best RB in the world at the moment
    Mert - Been a beast
    Kos - See Mert
Monreal - Give him a run of games and he will easily be better than Gibbs. Better defender by far, better end product too,
Arteta - Has awesome hair, and is an integral part of the team
Ramsey - The form player right now
Gnabry - Looks excellent whenever he plays, would be criminal not to give him more time
    Rosicky - In great form
    Wilshere - In great form
Giroud - best we can manage

Rosicky was actually pretty poor against OM. A lot worse than Ozil.

well i hope we are not saying " Oh this is only Cardiff so we dont need Ozil ,

coz thats just bollox , the same bollox that has cost us against Bradford and Blackburn .

    DONT PLAY WEAKENED TEAMS .

Always play your strongest team to put the opposition , whoever they are , under the kosh from kick off.

Kill em dead , then if you want to rest the cream of the crop players at 75 mins when you are 2-0 up , by all means , but this starting with second fiddle players is just bollox.

Ozil has been quality this season. He's like Arshavin in that even if he has a poor game (by his standards) he still produces moments of magic. He will create goal scoring chances in every game he plays. He has a few goals and a load of assists and the way he moves around the pitch is quality.

We are stronger with him on the pitch. He is still adapting to the league, the country, the team etc... but he has already had a great impact on the team and he will continue to improve. Definately wouldn't drop him.

we should start with our best team, and then rest some at 60/70 mins if leading by 2 goals, or if required we can bring on Theo to change the dynamics of the team as we can hit them on the counter attack.

i also like the tactic of bring Monreal on to add to defensive cover when leading a game, as he offers extra protection but is also very good at delivery of crosses.

i am going for a 2-nil win with goals coming from Giroud and Ozil.

So the general consensus is that you'd rather start a big name player, even though he's playing crap, because he's a big name?

If this is what i'm up against, i might as well quit now.

Or because the said big name player creates or scores a goal in nearly every game he plays. I love Rosicky but even at his best he is hardly top quality in the final third, and the basic stats show that.

    hes not playing crap .

Jeez , seems if you dont set the world alight every match , you are suddenly in need of dropping.

12 games in and i would say he has had 9 or 10 good or very good performances.

If he puts in 9 or 10 terrible performances in the next 9 games i might start to reconsider.

But christ , he has 1 and a half , less than perfect , games and hes the the reincarnation of Bendtner .

    I just dont get it.

fact is , i would rather have Ozil firing on TWO cylinders than Ros firing on his normal 3 ,

    ( never been 4 yet )

You just don't want to directly agree with him <whistle>
But anyways, dropping Ozil for this match is stupidity, maybe for the Hull game seeing as our Quad of Death (Everton, Napoli, Citey, Chavski) begins after that but not before.

    It's a she, afc is a she, :-D.

And as for the resting issue, if it was up to me, I'd rest Ozil for the Hull game, along with some others, would like to give Jenkinson and Vermaelen a start for that game, and I'd also start Theo for that game as well.

For Saturday VS Cardiff I'd only make 2 changes from Tuesday, Gibbs for Monreal, and Cazorla back in for Rosicky.
