knew a user on another forum who was an Arsenal fan, and he asked why i had the username, i said it was because it was an old footie knickname given to me as my surname is Jenkins. he turned round and said they used to call me Jenny because my surname is jennings looks like i got lucky with my knickname lol
I bet they said it like they were forrest gump and all... JEHNNY... I understand the point but no top team would go to hull and rest that many players so why do we think we are going to do it? i don't understand. Did someone like rodgers say it was going to happen?
I agree with mito here. Has BR shown the tendency to play a load of fringe players so far? Why do we think he's going to do it here? There may be the odd one or two occasionally given time in games against so-called "weaker" sides, but I'm sure he knows the importance of every game as well as we do. Anyway, weaker sides is a laugh, the bottom side can beat the top in the PL, we've seen upsets many times (Sunderland v City recently), and we've been bitten ourselves more than once. It's not as though Hull are plumbing the depths of the Prem either.
credit to hull as well cos even though bruce is a donkey of a manager they are bascially along the lines of a bruce side. can't score much but can defend and if you can defend in this league you will get points. I am hopeful that suarez will get the shots on target rather than all off target as he is sometime prone to doing. Get one and then we can play our game.
It will be up to us to keep SaS quiet, so I would expect to see a 451, possibly; McGregor Rosie Bruce Davies Figgy Koren Thudd Livermore Meyler Boyd Graham With Thudd and Meyler sitting a little deeper to protect the back four. A tough one for City and with two losses on the trot now, I'd snap your hand off for a draw!
A 'gimmie' (sic) game?? Hull have only lost once at home this season & you've only won 2 away, so to suggest that you should go into this fixture with the mindset that it's a gimme is ridiculous. It'll be a tough afternoon, they're solid & hard to break down, with plenty of spirit & a couple of capable match winners in their side. You'd better hope that Rodgers & his side don't turn up sharing your over confidence.....
My feelings too. I'll only feel this confident when I inspect my poo on Sunday morning. The rest is just unscientific speculation.
let me explain this fully..... for ANY side expecting to be top 4 hull should be a gimmie. sorry but they should be. Would you expect utd, chelsea, city or arsenal to go to hull with trepidation? I would not. ergo. they all expect to win. thats the point i am putting forward. LFC fans have perhaps forgotten how to be the cock Pricks everton fans accsue them off and need to get it back. incidentally. hull: result thus far Chelsea 2 – 0 Hull City Hull City 1 – 0 Norwich City Manchester City 2 – 0 Hull City Hull City 1 – 1 Cardiff City Newcastle United 2 – 3 Hull City Hull City 1 – 0 West Ham United Hull City 0 – 0 Aston Villa Everton 2 – 1 Hull City Tottenham Hotspur 1 – 0 Hull City Hull City 1 – 0 Sunderland Southampton 4 – 1 Hull City Hull City 0 – 1 Crystal Palace so... hull have played 6 games at home so far.. beating NORWICH, WEST HAM and SUNDERLAND... now sorry but hmmmm those are lower half sides at best they drew to cardiff and villa, again bottom half sides... they lost to palace... again bottom half sides. Actually hull have played the top sides away and have done quite well. they beat newkie who can't defend, and narrowly lost to everton, cheslea, city and tottenham. only southampton handed them a beating, again a potential top 6 side it seems... right now. so. the sides who played them around us mostly beat them... they've played lower half sides at home. now that said there's all credit to them for a very miserly defense as you've alluded to as away from home they really only got that one beating and a trip form hull to st mary's is always going to be a long one.... ......................................... still the EXPECTATION should be that if both sides give their all (i always set out expecting only one thing and that is 100% effort and commitment) and there's no referring howlers for either side then LFC should indeed win this game. Its just about having standards. If LFc want to claim to be a big club they better act like on and that means going after lower half teams like a dog in heat. We should be going out of our way to take the 3 points here not trying to play above ourselves when we play city and tottenham later in december. drop 2 points v hull and pick two up somewhere along the way isn't the way to the top 4. After all... invincibility is all about a side like hull subconsciously thinking LFC are coming and thinking they will lose.
There's a big difference in expecting a win and being complacent or arrogant about how to get it. Liverpool should win, and should be expecting to, but only if we keep our focus and treat the opposition with the respect they deserve.
Just want to say, MITO... that was one hell of a reply. Facts used properly on a forum, Jesus wept. Anyway... always a little fearful for these sorts of games... but if we start well we should win. Hopefully everyone is fit and firing apart from at LB - would like to see Agger play there and Sakho return. Flanno played okay in what was surely the game he'd always dreamed of playing in... unrealistic to think he can do it twice. Of course it'd be nice to be wrong on that.
Bit condescending with the (sic) there. It can be spelt both ways. I don't think the team will turn up thinking the game's already won, they've been down that road too many times, but if they don't have the mindset of it's there for the winning then they could struggle. A team has to be psychologically geared up for a win, they shouldn't be going into it hoping they win, rather knowing they can win. That's what breeds confidence. We seem to have turned things around this season in regards to games we 'expect' to win so it will be interesting to see if that improvement can be sustained.
Apart from the first 3 games of the season (and Fulham who are shocking) we can't keep clean sheets. Especially if we play 5 at the back
you are right i should not use facts where a witty use of slights will do... I should have just said something about baine's toe buggering martinez... I don't mind but if everton ever got a bit of expectancy going that neat little side they've built up might actually go win something. I'll keep on expecting more and more from LFC until we finally win something real. That starts with expecting a side wanting top 4 to a) play like they mean it on the day, not take hull lightly b) get its shots on target c) see that these 3 points are just as valuable than 3 v utd or everton and even more can let us get GD up.... spurs 6-0 thrashing means a bit of positive GD won't go astray by the end. Hull.... great start to a season for a promoted side. yes good at home but not something out of the ordinary for a side down there. their away fomr is more impressive to me. I'd be saying at home we really have to mind our ps and qs. however the point on our away form is also well made by tobes. we did beat villa but were second best at times in the game. we played awful after an international to swansea and drew... same for newcastle, away but after an international so we drew.. same for everton.. draw after international. we beat sunderland easy and lost to arsneal by playing patently the wrong tactics................ for me having watched each and every game i am confident in saying that the games after internationals is a much more significant impact on rodgers planning than playing away. Had any of those 3 games been played with full preparation we could and really should have won them! Ergo... I am confident that with the right on field attitude we can deliver the goods. I expect a performance, i hope for some luck along the way but i am NOT fearful.
I'd like to see: --------------Mignolet --Johnson--Toure--Agger--Flanagan ---------------Lucas--------------- ---Hendrson--Gerrard--Coutinho --------Sturridge---Suarez Same system used v Fulham.
