Yeah, I chose the NFL example because the talk of Americanisation but the Dons story is probably more relevant.
I get the example but MK Dons didn't move for franchise reasons I think Town or City association is partly lost already due to having players in the side that come from all over the globe. None of us would change this at the expense of quality in the team but we'd all love to see more local lads at each club. Of course, I'm a supporter of a club that isn't my home Town / City so others may see it differently anyway.
Tbf it would be a shame for your club to lose its place name, hope you're successful in your fight to keep it.
In answer to the OP. I don't see the point in changing the club name from Hull City Tigers to Hull Tigers, it seems a very minor thing to do. However, I do understand the fans not wanting to see it happen and I'd equally be against a name change for Liverpool.
I would ask all Liverpool fans, at 19:04 into the game, to turn around, point your arses at the directors box and pull a ret good mooney. It won't happen, so ill just ask you to leave my car on bricks and not drop it on the hubs please. Ill be sure to bring a pair of steelies in me boot so you can be assured I'll still get home ok. Thanks
Robbing cars and hubcaps is a thing of the past mate, we're into cyber crime these days and I've just had your bank account off and I'm gonna book a nice holiday in the Bahamas with your dosh, cheers.
and they say we bang on about the past note to self, must remember to reply to my penpals in Nigeria.
You must be one of those 'Liverpool #1 fan' types who come from anywhere except Liverpool. In fact I've just realised how silly that sounds. It's common knowledge the people from the city of Liverpool actually support their local club - Everton. Pardon me. Coming to think about it, I know a plethora of Liverpool fans. One of them is from Warrington.
