Welcome to a brand new day Mike and by the way SOD has been sacked-what? Due to the 8 hour time difference that was the news that greeted me about 2 hours ago and although I wasn't shocked in any way my old brain started to wonder if the managerial revolving door is going to stop spinning this time and we hire someone of repute and ability.

Given our history of getting things wrong at every turn isn't it about time we actually got something right? Whether our supposed leaders are aware of the fact but I am going to say that this is the last chance saloon for the future of Bristol City because if we continue down our current road the future doesn't just look bad but dire in the extreme. We need a manger who has the skills to rearrange the deck and hope we don't sink in to oblivion, as well as the ability to know what is his strongest line-up and get the best out of the players at his disposal.

I truly believe that over the last few years we have had some good players on hand but lacked the managerial skills to put the package together on a consistent basis. We all know that given the opportunity most players are basically lazy money grabbing mercenaries and we need someone to see through that sad mindset and get them to play for the shirt of Bristol City and hopefully somewhere along the way earn the respect of the paying customers and even heighten their own self worth.

The next major decision to be made by our board will probably be the most important in the overall scheme of things at Ashton Gate for a long time and we, as mere mortals, can only hope they bring in a person that can, and will, earn the respect of all of us and create a non-poisonous atmosphere that is essential if we want to see Bristol City thrive and proper again soon.

Good luck to the board in their endeavours, and whoever comes aboard must get respect and support from all of the likes of us. Good luck City.

I am a bit surprised at the timing as others have said.
However, it is hard to argue with results since Sean took over. My worry now
is that we have relied on JET for most of our positive play so far this season.
Other managers have consistently failed to get anything much out of him.
If he leaves or gives up now his mentor has gone where does that leave us?
Frankly I have ZERO confidence in the clueless board to pull a rabbit out of the
proverbial and fear we will all be less than overwhelmed with Sean's replacement.

You idiot don't you know anything by now? Redrobin sleeps with SoD so he knows everything <laugh>

The board was concentrating on the ground issue and once that was sorted they dealt with SoD. Glad he's gone not got a clue who to replace him with apart from my stand out choice Redprint

Well who in their right mind, that is any good, is going to want to apply for the poisoned chalice that comes with being our manager ?

I don't envy anyone coming in, I really don't, but I reiterate, that aside from dropping into Division 4 or out of the league, this cant get a lot worse.

SOD was a failure for us, like some many before him, only worse. End of.

I would like to know who our moaning supporters (not all of course) would chose for the next manager of our club, be realistic! however this time next year they will want him out too, that you can be assured of...we need stability at the club, however with our, "I want success now" brigade, that just ain't going to happen...Alan Dicks was our last manager to be given time, look what he achieved...nuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agree with NickH, Cliftonville, Robin unreliant, and others that the timing of the parting of the ways was unusual.

Following possibly one of the best results and performances of the season against the league leaders (albeit of division 1), and in a run of seven matches with only 1 defeat, to for Sean to walk or be pushed- and all points inbetween, does not figure. As has been mentioned lately 'the green shoots of recovery were there'.

If you go back to the last City managers they were all expelled when hope seemd to have been vanquished. GJ after 3-2 defeat to struggling Plymouth,Keith Millen after 5-0 hammering at Blackpool, DMc one too many demoralising defeats v Leicester 1-4 (I think) ...
The dismissal if it was a dismissal of SOD, came during a reasonable spell of results, which makes I wonder whether we will ever know the full story....

If you want the real answers then you only have to look behind the closed doors at Ashton Gate - if you can.

Like we've not had due cause to moan over the last 5 years FFS ????????????

Continued tolerance of things that are obviously wrong yet nothing gets done, and turning a blind eye rather than taking timely action has got this country into the current shamble it enjoys.

Oh yes, a long overdue decision. You're right, sometimes it just doesn't happen. Like Neil Warnock at Leeds, Holloway at Palace,....

I really like your new stadium having worked in Rotherham/Sheffield last year and wish we had a new one instead of all the politics

Said it before and I will say it again, a Glenn Hoddle, Ray Wilkins combination or either in their own right would be good choices. I would not be averse to Joe Jordan either, vastly more experienced since he was last with us and has great links at the highest level, but knowing our board they will reappoint Brian Tinnion.

'my stand out choice Redprint' and 'How can we get this to happen ?' <hug>

    Thank you guys.
It's so good to be recognised, by the eminent luminary RODney, as the only one who is the 'stand out choice'.
Alas, my business comes first and it's very unlikely BCFC could afford me in any case.

I have decided to repay these kind word by not posting comments defending SOD from clowns, fools, idiots and planks.

I'm at the Hennessy this w/e so you will understand why I can't enlighten you all again until Sunday.
