Cannot get away from the need for money. We need more if we want to secure ourselves as a decent yo yo club. You need a lot more if you want to get back into top 4 and regular CL.Top players will chose Liverpool Reds playing CL over Liverpool FC not in CL.The only constant is change.
Not all change is bad.People hark back to the dear old man running the corner shop. They forget the stale biscuits and zero choice.

There are three professional football teams in Hull. Hull FC, Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull City AFC. Only one of them plays association football. Hull FC is known as Hull or FC. Hull Kingston Rovers are known as Hull KR or Rovers. Hull City is known as City. Hull City was born in a rugby city and struggled to become established. Some rugby league fans still see us as a second class team in a second class team. Before Late Night Bus sounds his horn, I say some not all.

The name City is part of our identity. Most of our songs have City in them with only a handful using The Tigers. Our owner says our identity is lousy and wants to take it away without having the courtesy of asking us if we mind. For some City fans the owner of the company doesn't own the football club but is a custodian who will pass on the club at some point. The club morally belongs to its supporters and if an owner wants to take our identity without our consent then some of us will fight to stop him.

Late Night Bus is right some people support the name change because Assem Allam saved the club. I haven't seen anybody claim its a better name. The only way to test whether we have a majority is for the club to organise a referendum but that has been ruled out by the owner because he knows, like Late Night Bus, that the name Hull City would win hands down.

I don't expect you to understand what the fuss is about, but if you know that Hull is a rugby league team, Tigers are a rugby union team in Leicester, a basketball team from Liverpool, a football team in London whilst City is Kingston Upon Hull's association football team you may get somewhere close.

Hull City AFC is our name, our history and some of us will fight to keep it.

You wouldn't have that attitude if the name was being changed to Hull Tampax or Hull Vagisil. :bandit:

Maybe he doesn't but my opinion on this has always been the same. Give the fans the vote. Let the owner present his case to the season ticket holders/club members and let the other side do the same. Then the fans can assess both sides and decide for themselves <ok> The thing that's wrong about this IMO is that owners can do whatever they feel like. If he wants to call them One Hull of a Club or Capital of Culture Club (<whistle>) and get them playing in brown shirts with pink polkadots he can.

We have a few cocks that don't want to upset the dictator, but most think the change is ****ing ridiculous. Can you imagine? Hull tigers vs the liver birds? Makes me cringe.

Here's a link to the Hull City Tigers site. After bannergate (see opening post) the club have announced a restriction on the size of flags on Sunday, they can't be bigger than 6' by 4'. Welcome to the City of Hull.

Tiger Filey is one of our supporters that doesn't mind the name change. There are a few and he's entitled to his opinion. A referendum will show how many I agree with him. I also feel he may vote Hull City if he was given the opportunity by the owner.

One concern I have is the name change begins the trend of placing more emphasis on the nickname of the club than the city of origin. The concept being that young fans will support the 'Tigers' and as a consequence will be fans of Hull. This in theory eventually makes the franchise more significant than the city of origin. Worst case scenario you end up with a situation like the Oakland Raiders who spent 13 years as the Los Angeles Raiders as it was perceived as a more lucrative place for the franchise.
