The question needs to be asked, how can the Bundesliga compete financially in Europe with the likes of the Premier League based on much lower ticket prices?

Over to those more knowledgeable than me.

Id rather the PL was like the Bundesliga, affordable and sold out games.

Finglas, the big 2 have massive stadiums, the Germans believe in low prices for the games, people buy more merchandise and things like food and drink when they save on tickets. We get ripped off with ticket prices, train prices, food and drink prices too.

Id love it if we followed their lead and created a club thats affordable to follow. Imagine a 40k ground sold out every week, catering thats good, affordable and doesnt take the whole of HT to get served.

Of course Rooney on 250k is no better than some German players on 50k, so that helps too as the obscene wages arent sucking money out of the game.

In both the Premier League and the Bundesliga, matchday revenues represent a relatively small percentage of total turnover, with the bulk coming from TV and Sponsorship.

    Take our neighbours:
For 2011-12, Chelsea's matchday revenues (tickets, programmes, catering) totalled £78m out of total turnover of £261m - 30%.
For the same period, Fulham's matchday revenues were £11m out of a total £79m - 14%

Bayern Munich's matchday revenues represent 23% of their total turnover (£70m out of £305m), but some of their season tickets cost as little as £104, so they are making much more on matchday ancillaries than PL clubs.

Quote from Bayern president Uli Hoeness 'We could charge more than £104. Let's say we charged £300. We'd get £2m more in income but what's £2m to us?'

At the moment I enjoy watching the Bundesliga highlights show much more than MOTD - partly format (no talking twats!) but also the football is very good, very attacking. Plus 70% of Premiership players are foreign, compared to 45% in the Bundesliga. So at least I am really watching German football. In Spain its 40% foreign. English club owners prefer to spend their TV money on overpriced imports rather than, as Stroller has pointed out, recognising that they re part of a community and respecting fans like the Germans. Here's hoping TF proves the exception, the signs are good.....

Whether the Bundesliga is better run than the Premier League isn't what I was comparing. The German model of low ticket prices etc is definitely the better way.
I still maintain that the Premier League is a better watch overall (on TV).

Exactly, who was it that spent £7m on someone because he got the blokes name wrong? It was a black player who signed for Newcastle.

So much is wasted on **** players yet they could sign 1 less **** player and charge fans £15 a game.

Spot on. More drama, more late goals, more characters etc. Some people consired Bundesliga as the best, cheapest and symphatetic league in the world. Well, for once word symphatetic dont go with germans in my opinion. Words effective, steady, unyelding or grim yes but symphatetic no. Just remembering two Schuemachers Michael and Toni.......

Some 10 years ago I would have rated PL football to be the most entertaining stuff to watch and of course the atmosphere in ancient days was terrific but that has changed quite a lot these days and the Bundesliga has become more and more interesting. The prices have gone up of course quite a bit but the atmosphere is great (most places do have nearly 100% every game), most stadiums are brand new with very good catering ( I guess that is what most of us want for QPR these days) and good seatings. In Germany there are only 2 top clubs right now whereas there are none right now in the EPL that might win the CL this year. Of course ManU has always been rated top class in Germany but I guess most Germans do like Arsenal (and perhaps Chelsea) - by the way, most Germans I know are very fond of English Football.

In all honesty Bayern are in a league of their own at present, they are certainly way ahead of Dortmund and the rest of the Bundesliga are also-rans. In Europe only Barca and Real are in their League and Barca with Messi injured are suddenly looking vulnerable.

The Bundesliga package for fans is exceptional value but the PL is still the top for competitive matches where, especially this season, the big guns are coming unstuck with amazing regularity...

I have a German mate who stopped supporting Bayern as he was bored of them winning everything. I told him to support QPR and then he would only have to celebrate once a decade.

Well hopefully two promotions in 4 years will bring the average up but that will probably mean anyone over 40 will die before they get to celebrate anything after that!
