Zlatan says he is the best. Is it arrogance or justified self confidence? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...on-dOr-I-already-know-that-I-am-the-best.html Messi is still ahead in my book.
They're rich beyond belief and adored by thousands for kicking a ball around. I don't think they have the need or desire for perspective or modesty.
Good shout. He is that good regardless of all the overrated claims. he needs an assistant to carry his winners medals.
There was amusing period between 2008 and 2010. 2008/09 Zlatan plays for Inter... Barca win the Champions League Summer 2009, Zlatan moves from Inter to Barca. 2009/10, Barca fail to win the CL with Zlatan, Inter win it as soon as they got rid of Zlatan Summer 2010, Zlatan moves from Barca to Milan. 2010/11, Barca win CL again as soon as they got rid of Zlatan. Moral of the story... if you want to win the CL get rid of Zlatan
On the contrary, I think that Zlatan needs his perspective more than anyone. Not only does he believe he's the best, but he needs to believe it in order to keep performing at his top level. Most players would have controlled the ball when facing away from the goal and 30 odd yards away. Zlatan believes he's the best so he took a shot and scored an outstanding goal. Without his belief he'd still be a quality striker, but I don't think he'd be in the top five or so in the world without his belief and the swagger it gives him.
I don't think that's perspective though. Ronaldo and Messi are quite a way above anyone else in football and Messi will in all liklihood go down as the best of all time when he calls it a day. My point was that he lives in such an insulated World that he doesn't really need to be modest or even realistic when he talks or in his actions. Lots of players score crazy goals when you don't think a shot's on. I doubt Kasami was thinking he's the best player in the World when he was going for goal against Palace, I think he and Zlatan probably shared the same thoughts, that being "**** it, might as well".
Messi can't even score a penalty against a fake keeper...
And he has done it in many different leagues and countries too. Ronaldo as at least done it in three, I can't see Messi leaving Barca where everything is setup around him. I'm a big Messi fana nd I put him as the current number one but he needs to move and test his self elsewhere to be seen as the greatest of all time IMO.
Not really. He scores great goals but they're not usually a shot to nothing in a weird situation like having your back to goal 30 yards out with the 'keeper out of his goal. I was just saying that I don't think it takes believing you're the best player in the World to score those kind of wonder goals. Ideally yes but he's playing for club and country and playing regularly in the Champions League so the opposition for his team. It's easy to say everything is set up for him but how is that different to when Ibrahimovic has thrived? At Barca he didn't get everything set up for him and that's when he struggled. Ronaldo does best when things are set up to suit him, as does Ribery, as does any top player.

The numerous records he's smashed are enough, all he needs to do is keep up this kind of consistency and pick up some more trophies to be the best ever, in my opinion.
Agree with Messi, to score 75 goals playing in one of Europe's top leagues. To do the things he does on a pitch, the control the movement the skill and the end product, to think he has to move clubs to prove himself is ridiculous tbh. He's quite rightly ranked the No1 player in the world so to be saying he needs to move to prove he's an all time great is Never mind the fact he has had an underlying medical condition as well. Messi is already an all time great player as is Ronaldo.
