Six men have been arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency investigating alleged match fixing in English football. At least three footballers are reported to be among those held across the country, but the BBC understands that none is linked to professional clubs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-25132538
Thats what I carnt understand, they get paid a great wage, they are just greedy bastards., That old frase"Money talks" well it does x x
Unfortunately and very sadly the three footballers arrested are simply just scapegoats. Corruption and evil immoral activity is absolutely rife within football and it involves people at the very top of the world game and I wont mention any names but also involes very famous ex footballers who work at the the very top of the European and World game.
I very much doubt that this is widespread, as I've never personally come across a fixed game in the English football league (plenty of dodgy conference games mind). I've had news that half the squad were getting sacked before a game because of administration, or that half the team had the flu - but no scenario where either team that was put on the pitch was not going to try. Compare this to the likes of Italy, where I've seen a Serie A game which had the exact Half Time and Full Time correct scores fixed (and loads of new Italian accounts betting on them, 2-2 Half Time, 4-2 Full Time...), and where for about 5 weeks at the end of every season about 10% of the Serie B and Serie Pro Liga game results are known two days before they kick a ball.
In this instance I thought it was about deliberately getting a yellow card within 20 minutes of the start. Things like that one player could pull off without any of the other players needing to know.
There are very few bookmakers who take such precise bets, and when they do it's hard not to get noticed by the bookmakers http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...d-match-fixing-probe-Motherwell-v-Hearts.html
aparantly several from afc hornchurch involved in the match last year vs welling someone said the odds at the time for hornchurch to loose were quite high so i think this has to do with far eastern syndicate. Now i was talking to a steward who does championship matches and he said a big company who steward matches are deliberatly throwing matches and making a heck of a lot of dosh more i think will get done over this
