    Loans still available:
    interest rate variable

Players guys, not money. Don't get excited.

The latest deadline for Premier League players to make loan moves into the Football League and to clubs who compete in other leagues falls at 5pm this Thursday.

There has been speculation that a number of United's fringe players are set for temporary exits from SJP, with Gael Bigirimana, Haris Vuckic, Sammy Ameobi and Adam Campbell all linked to other clubs.

The disappearance of Sylvain Marveaux from the first team picture has prompted talk of a departure, while Gabriel Obertan came back into contention while Jonas Gutierrez was absent but could be allowed to leave.

Unconfirmed reports on Tuesday meanwhile suggested that defender James Tavernier was the subject of interest from at least one club in Scotland.

Six Magpies are currently out on loan for varying time periods: Mehdi Abeid (Panathanaikos), Romain Amalfitano (Dijon), Shane Ferguson (Birmingham City), Dan Gosling (Blackpool), Conor Newton (St. Mirren) and Michael Richardson (Accrington Stanley).

Plenty of talk of players going out, but not much news about players coming in.

Better than sitting on the bench picking their noses.

Premier league teams can't bring in loan players.
Can see Gael, Haris and Sammy heading out. No point in them staying here to be honest, but I suppose we would be leaning heavily on an unwritten guaranteed minimum games agreement which loaning teams might not be so keen on.

Well of the players out on loan so far only 2 (Fergie and Gosling) will ever get any where near the first team, so we really could do with getting some of the better youngsters out getting some first team action - Bigi, Sammy and Good would definitely benefit imo

This - you just need to look at Dummett to see the improvement that comes from playing 1st team football regularly - even if it is at a lower level

All need to go out. you can recall them anyway. Better off getting first team action than watching and playing u21 football. Brings them on boat loads.

    Millers take two.

Amid speculation that a number of United's fringe players were set for temporary exits, Sammy Ameobi, Adam Campbell and Gael Bigirimana all remained at SJP when the latest loan window closed on Thursday.

However there were two departures, full back James Tavernier and attacking midfielder Haris Vuckic both linking up with League One side Rotherham United.

For Tavernier it's the latest loan spell of a career that has seen him previously play for Gateshead, Carlisle United, Sheffield Wednesday, MK Dons and Shrewsbury Town.

Vuckic meanwhile has spent time on loan at Cardiff City but has struggled to overcome a series of injuries in recent seasons.

Both players are in line to make their Millers debuts on Saturday at home to Gillingham - although that depends on Slovenian Vuckic receiving international clearance.

This double departure brings the number of Magpies on loan currently to eight, the other six being: Mehdi Abeid (Panathanaikos), Romain Amalfitano (Dijon), Shane Ferguson (Birmingham City), Dan Gosling (Blackpool), Conor Newton (St. Mirren) and Michael Richardson (Accrington Stanley).

Very surprised that no lower league club considered Bigi or Campbell. Wonder if any hidden clauses put dampeners on them?

Liked Campbell from the first time I saw him, it's a wonder nobody has come calling for him before this. Wouldn't think there'd be hidden clauses, it would be good for both parties for them to be loaned out.
