Forgot about Soldado. I believe he has travelled. He got a hat trick against Enfield last week and all 3 were provided by young McEvoy. McEvoy has also travelled so the plan was to play them both again.
Is Villas-Boas really picking pairings based upon behind doors friendlies at the training ground against non-league sides? That sounds mental.
I"ll rephrase that- he has certainly gone over the top after a stuffing of a non league side and it appears to have influenced his thoughts since that game.
Well it's made the game more interesting that's for sure Can't say I understand the logic of taking Soldado and not the other 2 though. I'm more than happy for us to sack off this game and let the youngsters play and after Sunday I'm also happy for AVB to take a strong starting 11 to get their confidence back up but we seem to have gone down the middle on this one from the sound of things. Maybe Soldado's being dropped and that's why he's being taken whilst the others who could play against United train back at home.
I still can't get my head around how Baldini, AVB and whoever else involved, sat down and believed Soldado would be a good buy for us, 26 million for a 28 yr old striker who has never played in the English league. The more you think about the signing, the more you realise its ludicrous and its not even Soldado who deserves much stick as hes been purchased by a club which doesn't suit his style. I would take losing this game if Soldado scored a brace and we stopped asking him to play so deep, or take up positions aside the box. The result isn't important, but trying to give Soldado some confidence back is.
Just seen AVB's quotes, apparently it's to do with players being injured or worries about them picking up injuries on the artificial pitch. I'd have thought Dembele's one who would be left at home too if that's the case.
Yes it does considering the amount of money spent on players who are supposed to provide the ammunition for Soldado. They turn out to be not quite up to it yet, so we look within our own ranks for an even younger answer. Not sure what to say really. Giving McEvoy another test has to be done at some point, and giving Soldado another chance to hear that lovely sound of ball and net going into the United game is reasonable too. Dunno, whats he gonna do if its a success again, roll out young Kenny v the Reds?? Having heard all this lets hope its not for 15mins at the end, I don't put anything past our manager atm.
I thought Kane didn't travel-still got a problematic back? Without bashing Soldado, I think it would be a good idea for him to start and get a couple of goals to boost his confidence.
Instead of all this chopping and changing,AVB should put in what he thinks is his best 11,and give them a run of games, win or lose.so they can get some sort of understanding, then start, working seriously on tactics
Its a plan to cash in on Bale MK2. He supplies the crosses for Soldado and we sell both to a Russian club in January.
Sounds good. Make our money back on Soldado and start the bidding at £90mill for NEW BALE. Think what we could do with another £110mill
Friedel; Naughton, Chiriches, Dawson, Fryers; Capoue, Dembele; Chadli, Townsend, Sigurdsson; Soldado. Subs: Archer, Fredericks, Vertonghen, Holtby, Lamela, McEvoy, Coulthirst That's three facepalms in the starting xi alone!
Would've liked to see Kane start but can't say I'm that fussed, looking at the line up it's being treated as "one to get out of the way" except for the inclusions of Soldado and Sigurdsson who are probably fighting to get a starting birth on Sunday.
