I know absolutely nothing about Valencia: but I suppose we'll need a match tread: BTW I firmly believe a 1-1 Draw is in the Cards for this one...
My line up would be; -----------------Vorm------------------ ------------ Chico -- Amat ------------ Rangel ------------------------ B. Davies --------------------- Britton ----------- ------------ Shelvey ------------------- Dyer ---------- Pozuelo ------ Routledge ------------------- Bony ---------------- Subs; Tremmel, Taylor, Ash, Canas, De Guzman, Hernandez, Vazquez. Lamah if Routledge injured still.
Vasquez hasn't shown us anything yet and if we want to score he shouldn't start. Echoes of Schechter I'm afraid. Maybe a late sub if we're ahead.
I think ML is very keen to progress and may play his strongest starting line up (especially if he believes point(s) at Man City is beyond us). Valencia won't be the push over they were in Spain, Since then they've won 7 of 13 (4 away) compared to our 4 from 11 (2 at home). They have also beaten St Gallen twice (5 - 1 & 2 - 3) A dangerous tie. I hope we play like Arsenal did last night - keep ball in their own half for ages until an attack was on; plenty of possession and - no gung ho attacking that leaves the defence open (as in the home game against Arsenal). Fans ave to be patient.
its a big decision ML has to make. I agree with Bob, would rather beat Valencia as we should get nothing v Man City
I would put Canas ahead of Leon as I would much rather keep Leon for the man city game but I think your spot on with the team selection.
I'll go along with that terrorwit, though Lamah is likely to be starting instead of Routledge, as I don't think he'll be fit for this game!............
Agree on this, would love to see Donnelly on the subs bench, surely it's time for this lad, he did very good pre-season, whats Laudrup's problem!............
Well I might have missed his fleeting run off the bench, but surely he's got to be better than Aloevera!...............
Easy mistake to make , I agree he has to be a better option than Vazquez at the moment .He needs game time at this level if we're see what he can do .there's a lot of "U21s" at the the club over 21 who aren't getting a sniff at 1st team action ,perhaps if we qualify tonight then these maybe given chance , Alfi, Gorre, Donnelly.
Two wins on the trot would be great for confidence going into the citeh game so 100% from whichever team ML puts out is demanded.
Donnelly played most of the away game v Petrolus, and he was awful. He's a million miles off this standard - a boy in man's boots at the moment, no chance he'll get anywhere near the first team in the near future (or at all, I suspect).
Well he has talent but isn't ready yet, not by a long shot. Hopefully we can continue to develop him in the youth setup. But I think we really need to go out an win this game tonight. I asked earlier because I'm not sure but I seem to recall that the winners of the group avoid the dropdown teams from the Champions League, so it could be very important but I'm not 100% on that.
You're right , if we top the group then we'll avoid the CL teams until the final 16 if not then we'll meet in the last 32 (I think)
Watford fan in peace - I sit next to a Valencia fan at work and he's not exactly confident about their chances of winning tonight as he thinks that they shouldn't lose to teams like Elche as they did at the weekend.
That's interesting jsybarry, a dip in form might just do the trick, though I'm sure Laudrup will want the strongest team possible for tonight, hope Bony starts, not sure whether Hernandez is a good bet for this one after being out injured, though I know he's targeting tonight's game!................ PS: Anyone think that £30.00 for this game is over the top, or am I being tight!..............
