Wilshere played a blinder, hindsight is a wonderful thing. I have explained my point about ryo to death, it was about having a mixture of youth and experience on the bench depending on how the game went. It wasn't a particular slight on Wilshere, more just me finding room for Ryo who is a youngster i think should be given a chance when circumstances permit it. And me thinking Wilshere should be used carefully to avoid injury. Not sure it's a reason for you to be that excited tbh
This ain't hindsight, why on earth would you want to leave Jack out of the squad, not even just on the bench, but out of the squad, for Ryo, who has NOT impressed at all when playing for Arsenal. Why have youth and experience? Just for the sake of it? We had Gnbary anyway for that, so there, still didn't have to drop Wilshere. You put the strongest team available, in a game of such importance, simple as that. Not play silly games of dropping a first team player, for the sake of mixing youth, oh and by the way, you do know Wilshere is still in his youth right? He's not exactly 30. Wilshere and Wenger both made clear HE IS NOT INJURED, he had no niggling injury, no nothing, it was reported somewhere in the media with no basis, and as we saw, the player is fine, scoring both our goals.
Solid performance lastnight which wasn't reflected in the scoreline. Wilshere was everywhere and was the best player on the pitch. It would have been nice to see Walcott have a longer go on the pitch and roast their defenders. By the time he came on, we started winding down.
I know Marsaille were guff but I did enjoy the move at the death which ended with Theo shanking his shot wide. Yeah he should have scored but he's been out for ages so I'll let him off. What was more pleasing was the type of move. Now he's back we'll hopefully be getting in behind the defence far more with those sort of runs.
Dunno if anyone noticed, but we've had 6 clean sheets out of our last 7 CL or League matches which is pretty impressive.
That's an attack plan we've missed with his absence. We will be more threatening with Walcott playing on the right. It's a shame as I like the look of Gnarby. I hope he gets play time for us.
One of the most enjoy able things about last night is we were able to bring on Arteta,Cazorla & Walcott as subs.
Totally agreed. Once we get that then we're good to go for the second half of the Premiership season.
I honestly can't see us going for a forward in this transfer window.I can see Wenger trying Walcott or Podolski up front
Probably right. If we can keep those guys fit for most of the second half of the season, then we'll be challenging until the end.
I want another RB to back up Sagna. I appreciate Jenkinson tries...and I think he's ok...but I really don't think he's good enough (yet). Sorry Carl, having Arsenal wallpaper isn't enough for me! Besides, having another top quality RB means if we needed CB coverage then Sagna can play there without the team being weakened. I'd like to think we'd buy a striker in January but I'd not be surprised if we didn't. We did try and sign Ba and Suarez which shows Wenger wants to improve us there.
He did and we ended up 20 points behind United. This season Sagna has been brilliant and, happily, remained healthy. I don't think CJ is anywhere near his level and if we want to be serious contenders I think we need strong back up in every position. At LB we've both Monreal and Gibbs - that's brilliant. Jenkinson tries really hard and certainly isn't terrible but...meh, I just think we can do better. Who knows, maybe I'm doing him a disservice.
Jenkinson may be fantastic now. We haven't seen him play a game for months. We can't keep falling into the trap of fixing a young player's ability in our minds based upon history.
Sanga has been fecking world class so far this season, and considering he's come back from two leg breaks that is no mean feat. He deserves a lot of credit for his performances and should be rewarded with another contract at the end of this season. Jenks is okay, but Sanga is streets ahead at the moment.
And there in a nutshell is Jenkinson's main problem. Sagna is bloody awesome and is super fit so plays week in week out. Jenkinson at this point in his development needs game time if he is going to improve, sitting on the bench and training is going to get him nowhere. Brining in another RB or a player that cover as well in other positions, and loaning Jenks to another PL club does not sound crazy to me.
