Which one would you rather have? Personally, I'd want Nani. Slow learner but will most probably get to that world class stage with Man Utd, if we keep him and if he is willing to learn. I think he has been one of the best players during the first half of the season. He is what I believe you'd call a marquee player, but he hasn't done 'it' often enough to be regarded to be good enough to discount his defensive duties. That mistake against Barca really sticks vividly in my mind. That was his trademark for the last couple of years, losing the ball when we should be on the break and conceding a goal, but this year with 17 assist and several goals, his breakthrough season for something bigger and better to come? All in all, between Nani and Young, I'd rather have Nani. BUT, if swapping Nani for a CM like Wesley is on the cards I'd rather have Young and Wesley. (Let's face Nani has a better European stock than Young) If we'll end up having both, that would be hugely pointless and disappointing. One thing that I really did not like about Nani is his attitude, he sometimes thinks he is better than he is and sometimes you get the feeling he thinks he is bigger than the club :. If that doesn't change we are better off without him. The other thing is he is twice the player on the right than he is on the left, he has got the potential to be a world class right winger but we have Valencia on the right. Ashley seems to play better on the left than on the right so that might be the deciding factor. Discuss and Vote
Don't see why we can't fit both into our squad. I don't think signing Young would necessarily signal the end for Nani at Man Utd. I saw in the paper this morning that Berbatov could be 5th choice striker next season because Welbeck is due to stay at Man Utd next season, not go out on loan. 5th choice behind Owen and Welbeck, are you ****ing kidding me?
It's not that both will not be good, but why stock up in a position where we are quite comfortable; Nani and Valencia Giggs, Park, Obertan cover Rooney, Fabio, Rafael, Welbeck, Evra when times are tough. We need a quality Central midfielder, like Modric, Sneijder, maybe Kaka, Scholes replacement. But Nani will be a good bargaining tool I think
frankly Nani would be the best player in italy by miles if he went there. it would be like going from the PL to sunday league with 11 piss heads on the other side. Hes way to good for that dreadful league. Berbatov should be 2nd/3rd choice striker.
Ashley Young can play in a second striker role, as a kind of attacking midfielder. Valencia and Nani both play mainly on the right whereas Young can play on the left.
nani played most of his sporting career, and therefore most of his footballing career, on the left he's reverted to the old **** nani of late. great contribution against barca also.
Nani can play second striker role, is better with both feat, can lead the line in emergencies if needed as hes done so in the past for us and portugal. Can someone please tell me what Young has ever done in his career?
Yes to this. This is why I think he has been bought to be honest. Also for cover on the wings when needed.
young has better delivery, is more suited to our counter attacking style with his better decision making, is quicker and isn't a selfish ronaldo wannabe end of thread
Utter bollocks. Better delivery? No Suit our style? Does he. How do you know? Nani a Ronaldo wannabe? Nani is a winger whos main focus is providing. Ronaldo is a wing forward whos main focus is scoring. They are nothing alike and the hatred of Nani comes from ignorant fans who still believe he is a ronaldo replacement. Hes not, he is Nani and is making a bloody good name for himself. Seriously, why is it some moronic fans dislike the player the United team voted the best last season. Do you see how insanely stupid that is?
i lost it with nani when he decided to revert to type in the second half of the season. constantly and consistently running into blind alleys, trying to do everything by himself..again. and then losing it, again. care to elaborate on the better delivery other than "no"? nanis delivery at times is superb, but its far too inconsistent and unpredictable. young is better in this aspect.
Nani is a bit inconsistent, I'd like to see both him and Ashley young though. I think Sir Alex would be able to fit them into our team and it would give us more options.
Ashley Young's delivery is better, more direct and better disciplined but Nani does have that magic, but like I said earlier doesn't show it often enough. Second striker: 1. Rooney 2. Berbatov (he comes deep) 3. Wellbeck 4. Owen (started to come very deep)
Because Nani has one of the best deliveries in the league. His ability with both feat trumps all wingers in our side currently and all in the PL. The evidence of this is his assist record last season. Be it in the air, on the ground, left footed or right footed he can do them all. As for losing it with him last season. Yes he dipped in form but this coincided with a few factors. His play was disrupted by a change of position and an injury. He was also the only player during the entire CL final to go past a Barcelona defender. Predictable always gets found out btw, think valencia in the CL final. Awful performance and the worst of any United player last season.
We all know Nani isn't leaving because without question he was our best player last season. There is a reason Ashley Young has been bought. We may not know yet but you have to trust Ferguson. He knows what he is doing. He doesn't buy players for no reason.
