Paper talk. Fulham are monitoring defender Phil Bardsleyâs contract situation at Sunderland with a view to a January move. Having been frozen out of the first-team under sacked manager Paolo Di Canio, the Scotland full back has established himself as one of new boss Gus Poyetâs key men. His recent displays have not gone unnoticed by the Cottagers, in particularly new coach Rene Meulensteen, who is a long term admirer of Bardsleyâs defensive qualities. I'm with Stu on this think his issue was with DiCanio not the club as he has always given his all before and since DiCanio and has had the balls to admit he was wrong and apologise another thing he would cost to much to replace.
He mocked our club to get at PDC, it's the football equivalent of somebody mocking my lady to get at me. You two and anyone else who've forgiven him might be happy with someone using our club as a pawn for leverage, but me, I've got more respect for our club. I understand why he's playing under Poyet and have no problem with it. But managers and players will come and go, I'll support Sunderland to my dying breath. A change of personnel won't make me forget. He's overpaid, of limited ability, only shows consistency in contract seasons and a traitor to the club. I can't wait to see the back of him myself.
Yes! That's a condition for me too, if we can't replace him I'd let him go for free at the end of the season.
Bardsley - It's Been All Wind And Pish! Phil Bardsley insists the team must shrug off the defeat by Stoke and do something ... rather than talking about it. Phil Bardsley: "We need to get to grips with the fact we are bottom, and get to grips quick. "Coming off the back of a great result against Manchester City we were full of confidence, as I say, just really disappointed the way the whole game went and the outcome of it. We've got to dig deep. "We've got a good enough squad here to get out of this scrap. It's up to us. "It's alright us coming on camera, saying we're going to do this, that and the other. "It's about when we step over that white line. "The weekend was a disappointing result, coming off the back of the Man City win. We need to put that right again."
