As a kid, I remember playing in the paddling pools at East Park(or the verruca pools as they were affectionately known)...

It was way over on the east side of the part, beyond the lake where the water slide thing was - I doubt that's there any more. By car you got to it via the road beyond the main entrance which ended at the lake where there where a few shops - at one of which I used to buy cinammkon sticks to smoke as a 7 yr old. The Lido was built later in a large grass area that seemed under used. That's my memory anyway

The lido was where the animal enclosure is now.

Found it, it was opened in 1964 and closed in 1988, I lived round the corner as a youngster, I'm amazed I can't remember it.

I learned to "swim" in the Lido, after I stepped in thinking it was the paddling pool. I can still see the bubbles <laugh>

I remember it still being in use in the 80s. Demolition date is 1988 according to their site. I thought parts of it were still there in a derelict state beyond that. I could be wrong though.

My recollection is of it being near to the old dance hall, more or less where the two five a side pitches are now. Though I could be wrong

We used to go exploring and fishing in the pond and woods at the back of 'Willows'. The big house, converted to a club (the Dockers'?) was on Holderness Road, almost opposite Portobello Street.

Don't recall any Lido from those days (early 50s).....

I remember when I was younger, I used to love going to this tower near the exit where the swings etc. are, and going in the boat where it would go down the ramp and it would be brought back up by rope.

We lived on East Park Ave when I was born, but immediately after I arrived, we moved a few streets away to Watt Street.

I lived on Summergangs/backing on to the Park, from 1950 - 54. Park was like a huge extension to the back garden. Over the fence and far away - Rockies, Lily Pond, Monkey Puzzle Hill, Lake, Willows, fantastic for a kid....!!

I was a "parky" there for two summers in the early 90's. Bits of it where still there then. Left Hull in 95, came back for a couple of days last year, it's changed for the better now.

Lakeside Avenue - I seem to remember it runs down the side of the old Astoria ('Azzy') and loops back on to Holderness Road (about opposite the old bus garage and the old Craven Park).

Rockies - that's got to be a Hullism. I used to play in Pickering Park from circa 1980-85 they too had a Rockie.
