I would imagine that in the event of Scotland gaining indeopendence there will be a referendum soon after about keeping the Queen as Head of State. I must admit to finidng it all rather worrying - the white paper is very sensible and the policies are not likely to scare anyone so the yes camp may well win..
Aye and we want to keep sterling ffs Plus we want rid of our nuclear deterrent but still hang onto the coat tails of NATO like a spoilt little brat. Have your cake and eat it springs to mind.
Members of NATO must allow nuclear weapons on their territory, it's a fundamental part of the alliance.

They're good friends with Britain and france so we said we'd help them out. If you go independent and someone fires a nuke we might just all sit back and laugh.
No only about half EU countries are members of NATO A country that signs up to NATO may not necessarily have nuclear weapons but as part of the alliance must make provision for member states to keep strategic weapons on their soil if requested. That's my understanding.

Thing is Dan if we get rid of nuclear weapons then why would anybody bother flying a nuke at us ? Right now we are the prime target . I wonder if Trident would be as welcome if it was situated 20 miles from London toon centre .
Iceland got an exemption - they give Nato 1million tonnes of cod a year instead. And no - I don't know the answer or the terms and conditions of membership
