The two goals were well worked and well taken and exceptional for us from open play but brilliant???? We all know MOTD highlights can be misleading becaause of the editing but it looked that for Bego and ShawX we could have been 2 down early on and on occasions we were not pressing and closiing down in midfield If we do that against Everton and Huthy and ShawX are shaky we will struggle SiS
No doubt that we have appeared to show weaknesses in our defence and have of late been playing like a team trying to avoid relegation - very nervous! However, as Ricc has stated, some of the possession play has been excellent (compared to Pulis ball) and we have started to score goals from open play - again a rarity under the old regime. Surely these are positives given we have spent little money?
Couldnt agree more Smithers but in playing "open" football which in itself is great are we being too open May be its because we have gone from one extreme towards another but can hopefully combine being attacklingly open with solid defence from midfield backwards Great that we are scoring but we need to stop others scoring more SiS
You can be as negative as you want, you will never bring me down, sunderland were the best side for the first 20 mins after that they created very little and we got better and better. I expect us to lose against everton as they are a quality team and are at home so anything but a loss would be superb. If you cant say anything positive after a 2 nil win then there is no helping you. Also I find it very hard for you to have an accurate account of what happened in the match on Saturday having MOTD as your only evidence. up the ****ing mighty potters!!!!!
Valid point that by design we will be more exposed by going forward more than we ever done before, hopefully the defence will harmonise more with the new style of play the further the season progresses! It doesn't help that Huth and Shawx have done nothing but twat the ball 40 yards for the last 4 seasons under the "Av It" training scheme!
Ricc I think it best if you do not read my posts as you obviously do not understand them 1 I praised the goals but did not think them brilliant That is not negative 2 You said S'land were better for the first 20 mins which is when Fletcher nearly scored twice as a result of poor defending Fact not negativity 3 On several occasions when they had the ball in midfield we had mento spare within yards but we did not press and close them down as we should have done against 10 men and only one goal lead That is an observation not negative 4To stand a chance against Everton we will need to defend and mark tighter That is not negative 5 I hate us losing even to the top teams That is not negative QED SiS
Its probably best if you stop putting my username in the title of each thread you post therefore I wont read them, and you have not said one POSITIVE thing about Saturdays game and have only pointed out the few bad passages of play we had. Maybe Saturday we will lost then you and a few others on here can run riot. Not one person on this forum has posted a positive thread about Saturdays game, says a lot about how this forum. No, I probably dont understand your posts as I cant understand why anyone would slate and be so negative to a team he is supposed to support Apart from the first season in the prem this is the most ive enjoyed watching Stoke and long may it continue Well done Mark Hughes Enjoy the rest of the season SIS. UTPssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
S I S To pick up on one of your points, the FACT that Fletcher nearly scored twice was 1. Shawx and Huth fecked up once 2. Fletcher clearly brought the ball down with his left hand, controlled it with his right hand and shot wide. The rest I can't argue with but.... a win is a win is a win.
Totally agree Steve At the moment doesnt matter how we achieve it My concern ( not negativity ) is that we strike the open balance between "pass and move" and our hitherto tight defending As for possession football Ihad to turn the Arsenil game off last night as it was boring the number of times they retreated from an attacking position to their own half just to retain possession I know if you have the ball the others can not score but "end to end" is far more entertaining IMO SiS
Ricc, if you look on the thread`still just as quiet` I think my comment on the Sunderland game was positive? Maybe not quite as bullish as yours, nevertheless -- POSITIVE!
