I thought after the first 15 mins we played well yesterday and looked like we were going to score more than 2, onwards and upwards!!!

By all accounts a solid performance and a result to boot! Still along way to go but slowly slowly catch a monkey!

Nowt against Stoke, but the referee totally changed the result of this game with two of the most shocking decisions I have ever witnessed.

We were already 1 nil up when brown was wrongly sent off, I dont know what the second bad decision the ref made was?

He means the Begovic clearance Ric <laugh> NEVER a foul and it was NOT even mentioned on MOTD if I recall? HOW the hell did it change the result, we we're winning and we won.

I mean the kung fu kick by your keeper on Fletcher..Please don't tell me that you don't think that was a penalty and a sending off?

I dont recall the Begovic one being quite that dramatic but I have seen them given.
"The Black Cats did feel aggrieved they were not awarded a penalty, though, when Begovic raced from goal and won the ball with a raised boot that caught Fletcher in the follow through. A penalty would have been incredibly harsh but Sunderland may argue the keeper's high foot was just as dangerous as the challenge that saw Brown dismissed"

I was a little worried that we seemed very nervous and although we did create more chances, we didnt make the numerical advantage count!

He's just being a total tit here..There was no comparison with the two as one was a perfectly fair and legal challenge which incredibly resulted in a sending off, and the other was an assault which went unpunished.
I'm fairly certain that Friend will be held to account over this as he has now had a number of wrong decisions given against us that have been shown to be blatantly wrong..Out of his total of 12 premiership sending offs, 5 have been against us, and he once gave a penalty against us for a challenge that was 3 yards outside the box.

I know I am swimming against the tide , but I think ref. Friend , from where he was postioned , was entitled to see the incident as a red card decision for Brown. Brown's run at the 50-50 ball at top speed and at full force , clearly showed that Brown had jettisoned any thought of safety for Adam or himself. It was because Adam , no shrinking violet himself , saw the real danger of injury to both of them , that he tried to avoid the collision , which he almost managed , sustaining just a minor knock.

So what will it mean now that the FA in its wisdom has cancelled the suspension ? Brown and others will assume this style of play is acceptable.
    A disaster waiting to happen.

As for Poyet and Sunderland supporters' other gripe - the Begovic clearance. What was he supposed to do ? If he used his hands he risked a free kick just outside the penalty area. If he used his head , he risked injury to himself. So he chose the safest option , of carefully toeing the ball upfield.

Dont get me wrong , I am definitely not a fan of non contact football.

The word Violet brought back treasured memories.

    Mr R A White
NO im my opinion it wasn't a foul by Begovic like Brown he got the ball. Therefore no penalty either. A tit of a decision robbed you of a player but to say (someone on your board said it) He Mr Friend cost you 3pts???? You had zero pts when he was wrongly dismissed. NICE to see it was reversed by the F.A. too!

Glad you enjoyed your pint in Newcastle too mate. All the best.

Interesting stat from last Saturday was that Whelan completed 63 passes in the game, not failing with one of them! Only two other players in EPL have managed that !!!!

Bit concerned that when I was in Trentham gardens on Monday, I saw a headline in the Sentinel that Hughes was saying Whelan was the main man?? Anybody got a link to that story?

    cheers
