There is a new flyer for Sunday, promoting both the membership scheme and the inaugural meeting at the Tigers Lair ahead of the Stoke game. We will also try and put out more information via the local media, as it's obvious from our badge/leaflet distribution outside the ground, that there's a lot of older fans that are not getting the message that's going out online. CTWD has always been about positive action, we will continue to push that message, whatever AA throws our way.
Too late to get something on those then. Do you set up little desks or whatever? You could have a small banner with a clear as glass slogan on. Another idea could be for the voulanteers to wear t shirts with it on.
I'm not sure of the exact numbers, PayPal is a bit messy and it's hard to tie up some of the applications and payments, but I think there's about £3k in the account so far.
Cheers, mate. A (climbing) total sign-up would be good; especially for showing an advance on the mythical '200'.
So what happens when a supporters trust sets out its objectives to buy shares in the club and the owner doesn't want to sell or give any to them until they support a name change?
I've already said it's not easy, as we have more membership applications than we do payments and marrying them up is not a five minute job. We'll announce it formally once we pass 1,000 and it's all been checked.
Its a lot more complicated than it appears. In the old days there was pen and ink. You'd receive the application in the post or at the match, you'd count them up and have a good idea how many people joined. Not any more. They all go into some electronic device and swim around for a while. The applications then have to be married up with the payments (which may include a donation) with the applications and, of course, you have to take into account the digital gods, who often like to have a chat and a cup of tea at the most inappropriate time. Finally we are all volunteers and have been surprised at both the response and the amount of work involved. So a little patience would be appreciated. We should get delivery of the membership cards shortly followed by yours truly, amongst others, writing out names, addresses and putting them into envelopes, together with the wrist bands.
I know... I'm not saying it won't happen. I'm just saying that AA will have the upper hand until you get closer to that target. Even then, He may still be in denial about those numbers being a majority but it should give you more credibility in the light of the media, the FA and general football world.
You should entice people over to where you demonstrate pre match with a selection of fine cheeses and meats to sample.
How much money are the Allams intent on making by changing the name. That is the question that needs asking. If they feel it is £1-2m per season then we have a chance. If they feel it is £10m+ a season then there is little chance of replicating this by the ideas I've seen currently Are there still lines of communication between CTWD and the club? Is there an option of an ideas upload page that fans can submit in order to prevent the change?
