Following on from a similar thread, are there any ex Ipswich players that we would still like to be in our team (that are still currently playing - and no ex-loanees)
Other than the obvious in Rhodes, is there anyone else?
    Trotter?
    Ed Upson?
    Would Wickham enhance our team?

And, other than McAuley, have any left us to bigger and better?

Bent, Rhodes, Wickham, Walters Garvan, Upson, Civelli, McAuley.

McCauley, Bent, Wickham, Walters, Delaney, Garvan have all left us for bigger and better and Upson too if you ask me because he was never going to get anywhere near the first team at Ipswich and now he's a hero.

Kelvin Davis, I would even take David Wright in a heartbeat even now.

    Do Begovic and Stockdale count?

Also, before anyone else says it GIO! <whistle>

If we are including loans as well, then Livermore, Townsend, Colback, Rosenior

I dunno about anybody else, But I miss JET even if its an impact sub role. I do think we have missed a trick with him, I would have liked to see him have a good run upfront with didsy!

Having a squad with a midfield of Upson/ Trotter/ Hyam & Garvan would cover most attributes you would want and would come at no cost. To be fair to the club t I am surprised how well Upson appears to be going but I could never understand why we let Garvan and Trotter go (other than Keane is a total (add your own expletive here!))

Rhodes & Bent as strike options would be nice. Although probably not together. Is Shefki still playing? if so he would make a nice partner.

Obviously Walters wide right would be a big bonus

Neil Alexander in goal would be a nice change as well, possibly with R Wright on the bench.

Defence - I thought he made too many mistakes when he was here but McAuley has developed well. David Wright is probably a bit old now but would be better than having nothing! Another player we should never have got rid of!

Basically we could have kept a half decent team if it wasnt for the appointment of the genuis that is Roy Keane.

If only Fabian Wilnis was still playing! <wah>

Out of the current former players then I would take Garvan back <ok>

what has happened to Ambrose? totally forgot about him and a few years back he would have been top of my list.

Nobody has mentioned Bramble yet - did he ever get himself another club?

Have been disappointed with the players we have produced from when we won the youth cup in 2005, some are with non league clubs, some out of football altogether. Upson and Garvan I believe played in that final, not sure about Trotter. Upson plays in Championship, but he and Trotter are really only journeymen Championship players, not really better than what we have. Garvan was plagued with inconsistent play when he was here, one good game in seven, which as we know is not acceptable, its interesting to note he wasn't named in the Palace league list of 25. Think stretchyboy is correct Rhodes and McAuley are the obvious choices, possibly Walters, but again although with a Premier league club, not really a big hit, hardly scores these days, we can't count his penalties

for me your being harsh seeker. I normally found Garvan consistant and he normally had time on the ball and vision. Think Keanes main issue with him was that he didnt run around like a twat!. I know he does seem to be a bit of a marmite player though - you either love him or hate him. Trotter was harshly dealt with here and has gone on to have a very promising career at Millwall and has looked very impressive in every match I have seen him in since he left (admittedly only 5 or 6 plus highlights)
Can you call players that have only played for 1 other club journeymen?
Anyway each to their own but I personally dont agree.

    My team would be:

    Alexander
    Wright, McAuley, Bruce, Harding
    Trotter, Garvan
    Walters, JET, Wickham
    Rhodes

    Bench of:

    Bent
    Davis
    Eastman
    Upson
    Leadbitter
    Lisbie
    Roberts

So basically the first team that C U Next Tuesday Roy Keane distroyed. Gary Roberts has gone on to have a pretty decent career in League 1, always gets picked out as one of the best players at that level although noone ever seems to think him worthy of playing in Championship. Also Lisbie is having a pretty good season!!

I always thought McAuley was a decent defender he was jst unfortunate to play for us in a very disruptive period where nearly every player who played for us looked pants. He came into his own in his last season with us though and was outstanding our best CB for years and has now gone on to be one of the best CBs in the PL.

As for Garvan he never did live up to his potential but again he wasn't exactly at a good club to progress at an important time in his progression, I thought he was harshly treatd in the end, particularly by Keane, others put in by far worse performances he'd put in a MOM performance but as soon as he misplaced 1 pass he wasn't to be seen again for matches. Good player, intelligent footballer, very few midfielders like him around anymore, could do well next to most of our midfielders IMO.

I never rated Trotter when he was here, looked a very poor player but has progressed and looks half decent, we certainly could've and have done alot worse than if we would've kept them!!!

I cannot agree with this Ptc i've never rated McAuley for us he was light weight and for me showed no commitment to the club or the team... to be fair at WBA he has been better but to me that just shows he wanted PL football without having to put the effort in to get it........
....And i did agree with Keane on one thing...'he should have taken his head off' against Coventry on day one of the season but lacked the Grit.
