Mate, I think you post a lot more than you think. You just can't remember it the next day. Mainly due to excessive alcohol consumption, coupled with bouts of depression.
The thing that stops me posting is the annoying bickering, i don't think i have ever been involved with a personal spat on here and don't see the point in it. It's got worse with the name change but it was pretty bad in the summer when we had nothing to talk about. As a general point would it work better if the mods where stricter on people turning this personal and insulting each other? More a discussion point, as i know i would post more if there wasn't so much rubbish been spouted between two people. Mind you i post enough as it is.
I don't post on many football related threads for the reasons mentioned already. With a lot of them ending up as arguments and confrontations. However i do like alot of the O/T threads. The one a week or so ago about "Things you don't see anymore" was brilliant and i think i contributed a couple of times to that thread. Also OLM's thread regarding saving "The National Picture Theatre" on Beverley Road was very good. i even posted on Saturday warning people of the road works on Anlaby Road. i also like music so I may participate in future music threads. Does anybody remember the thread about six months ago with all the Tommy Cooper jokes. That was my kind of thread.
Lurker for a long time and only read some of the threads once a week. Like any forum this one has its cliques but most posters seem ok. Definitely a hierarchy to this place tho! Can put some off joining in, and some of the insults bandied about are quite childish and equates to seeing who can piss the highest up a wall (imho). If you want more women to post you know how to do it right? Make a woman laugh and you're halfway there.
Being a member gets rid of Ads and allows you to see pictures/links etc. Some people may just be guests that made an account to be ad-free and see all content that never had any intention of posting. Not606 is surprisingly notorious as people who I know have asked me why I post on here, and it comes as a surprise because I didn't think they knew about it.
Well up to a point. Do you feel that when someone on here has wound you up and your head is bursting with rage? Surely then the other guy is a dickhead.
A lot of lurkers and posters alike are mentioning the bickering. I'm as guilty as anyone for getting drawn in, and there isn't a hope in hell of stopping it all, and to be fair, I wouldn't want to. Part of the problem with addressing bickering, is it creates bickering about censorship. What I can say, is I'll do my best to keep the bickering threads to a minimum. We can't nursemaid people, but in my opinion, I'd rather hear what you people have to say than read two people in a petty argument, which seems to be the choice. It's entirely up to people reading how they choose to use the board. If you want to just read, that's fine, but if you'd like to post but are wary of the response, I'll do what I can to try to keep it reasonably civilised.
Absolutely. To be fair, it doesn't happen very often at all. I'm quite mellow, but if it does, I'd simply log off. If I'm replying, it's a fair bet I'm not angry.
A post just popped up, but I cant see it. How predictable was that? Fair point though, problem is, it's not always the same ones that need ignoring.
I just post if I've got something (I think) is useful to say and usually someone else has got there first so I haven't. Always post to MOM threads when I'm there and any discussion of the dark days but they are rare.
There's a screen where you can go to that shows you everybody's current location on the site, and surprisingly there's quite often bots shown as users (ie it specifically says it's a google bot rather than just showing as a guest).
I'm definitely more of a lurker/reader, as I like to see other fans perspectives on things going on both on and off the pitch. I don't tend to contribute too much as I'm not overly "in the know" and due to living on a shoestring I don't get to attend too many matches anymore. Plus not having too many footy mad mates it's good to read just up on others reactions to footballing matters. I will say that even though a lot of people seem to have moaned about a "clique", to me it seems a clear case of the majority of regular posters just sharing the same point of view. As someone who has a slightly different opinion on the name change, I would expect people who have the same opinion on the matter to all put across similar responses.
If you feel you have a slightly diffeent opinion on the name change, I think most people would be interested to hear it. Put it up on the name change thread (you have a few to choose from) and see how you go. It's a sensitive issue, and some responses may seem harsh, but stick with it, they're only words and your opinion is important. If you'd rather, PM me it and I'll post it up of you want. The important thing is views are heard and shared. Just because people shout loud or hold a majority view, doesn't automatically make them right.
