For Arsenal, we've got Andre Marriner.

Lets hope he sends a couple of Arsenal players off -we might have a chance if they only have 9 men!

If we play well and compete with them we'll need a bit of luck with the big decisions.

I wonder if this is the first time we've had a World Cup final referee do one of our games...??

Mind you,I'm guessing Jack Taylor must have officiated a City match at some point during his career..

We had Howard Webb at least twice last season. One was televised I think the other was Udders at home.

Good aint it. Hopefully te fact we have a decent amount of Man Utd graduates on our books will give us some extra favour as well.

Taylor was referee for the FA Cup quarter final at Chelsea in 1966 - he turned down a really obvious penalty when George Graham (I think!) scooped the ball off the line in the first half. We've had Howard Webb a few times in recent seasons and I think we've already had him at home this season.

Although, we seem to do worse against teams with less than 11 men. We can't break them down. Sunderland and Palace are two examples of a severe lack of dominating creativity...

In fairness it made no difference against Palace.

This is true, a red card is hardly a disadvantage when you play us. That needs to change. Surely they should play practice games in training to get better at breaking down stubborn teams? Play 11 vs 10 or something.

Palace had appealed the red card.

    They'll lose.

Howard Webb should have done our game @ Southampton but pulled out due to injury after midweek game in the CL. Guess we were due to get him soon. :emoticon-0105-wink:

As for Andre Marriner for the Gunners game, our defence better had watch out IF we are leading in the final minute ? Dont want a repeat of the Chelsea v Wba farce do we Andre ? <yikes>

It is not as easy as you appear to think. Sunderland did a very good job with 9 men. Plus we were leggy after the 2 Spurs games. We still won the game btw.

Yes we should but it isn't even just 11v10 we were the same against 11 men. Their defence did well to deal with so many balls in the box but we had no answer to it. Huddlestone and Livermore had loads of the ball on halfway with the entire Palace team in front of them and had no way of breaking them down. We need to open games up. Watching the Man City-Tottenham and Liverpool-Everton games this weekend there was just loads more space available to play in and there was 12 goals between those games as a result. We can't open teams up like that. We just play it wide to Elmo who crosses it.
