I despair when I see people write lines like "As football fans we tend to be traditionalists which is fine but they can not keep getting in the way of progress" and they're actually being serious. How is the protest getting in the way of progress? How is a name change progress? If we were protesting against the PL, Sky or players being paid you'd have a point but it's a change of name ffs.
It isn't progress though is it? Progress would be if Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton and Liverpool were discussing changing their names to make money. Moving from Hull City to Hull Tigers is a gamble aimed at making us self-sufficient. The only other club considering a name change is the mighty Cardiff City and he's backed off for the time being. The only way to increase investment and sponsorship is by hard work not by a marketing gimmick.
Not really, everyone other than Assem thinks it's a farcical reason for a name change. Even the people on here who support Allam's right to change the name, think changing it is bollocks.
No you're the inarticulate **** who doesn't pay attention to what the entire post says. Want a slanging match? Go ahead. Want a discussion? Pay attention and respond. Thanks.
Do you have proof that his motives are correct? What are his motives? Is it not just a pride "thing" because HCC didn't sell him the ground? Why is changing our name progress? What will it progress? How will it progress what it is meant to be progressing? Would you not prefer him to be so sure that a name change will be the correct way forward rather than find out it was a mistake at a later date? If changing the name leads to a mistake it will not be a genuine one, he has said openly no research has been carried to ascertain whether a name change will bring success. The research paper he has read suggesting shorter brand names was specific to share dealings. Would it only be a genuine mistake if he'd carried out a thorough research programme to take in other similar models, asking questions like why American & Australian teams are now incorporating words like "City" & "United" into their team names? Why are people out of control? What have people done that is out of control? What "utter drivel" & "nastiness" has been said by the campaign group? Are you exaggerating? Why would there be a queue to step into his shoes? How big's the queue to jump into the Glazier's shoes? Daniel Levy's shoes? Stan Kroenke's shoes? Randy Lerner's shoes? Vincent Tan's shoes? Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan's flip flops? Mike Ashley's shoes? John Henry's cowboy boots? Why is it wrong to question our owner? Are you comfortable having an owner that you believe has such a volatile personality that he may just walk away? I just cannot see any substance in your arguments, sorry. Maybe your answers will help in substantiating your opinions & make them clearer.
Can I make it plain to those posters who know me and have been in contact, that I am not connected with any of the proposals put forward regarding the CTWD supporters trust.
This is where I think AA is out of his depth...he clearly knows little about Football and the business that surrounds it and he's also not someone who is used to having to take advice from people in his everyday business dealings... True,he made a good appointment in Bruce and backed him financially to the hilt, but the differences between promoting Marine generators and a Football club have left our autonomous master flummoxed. Changing the clubs name in the hope of generating a shed load of income is pretty much a stab in the dark with an ice-cream cone
How many know how football works? Adam Pearson worked as a commercial director at Leeds before he came in so he had some idea. Duffen and Bartlett what did they know. Alan Sugar? The list is endless, rich businessmen who invest in football clubs, with no idea of what they are getting into. So just who do they go to for advice? I just do not see the point that you are trying to make, is an owner a bad businessman because he doesn't know football. Who should he listen too?
He should listen to as many people as possible, then go with the best advice and most credible advisors.
That would be good. Just need a plan now from him on how he is going to do it. I take it you must have seen this plan of his to be so sure because I seem to recall him saying he didn't need to consult with anyone or ask anyone he would change the name because it was his club and he could. I will ask you what other have people have been asked before. IF the name change was the gateway to big investment etc etc then why haven't other clubs done it before. The supporters have met with him and asked him what research he has done into this. He has not come up with any so far.
I was going to say that we'll probably discover in the January transfer window what AA plans to do, but then I read your last sentence and realised that we may find out waaaaay before then!
