Its after 2.30pm Monday afternoon and no news that Friend has decided he made a mistake and is retracting his red card for Wes Brown. Am sure in the past these matters have been settled by Monday lunch time, its looking likely we will have too appeal and not holding my breath that that will work in our favour.
We had till 1pm today to lodge our intention to appeal, this has been done, we have till 1pm 2moro to lodge official appeal. I would imagine its being discussed over a free lunch as we type mate, wouldnt be suprised if we hear something later today, surely the daft twats wouldnt let us waste our time
I'm sorry Mackem effect but logical thinking and the FA and Referees organisation don't go hand in hand. I have this horrible feeling we will loose Wes for at least three matches.
http://www1.skysports.com/football/...eague-sunderland-to-appeal-wes-brown-red-card Sunderland have confirmed they will appeal the red card shown to defender Wes Brown during Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Stoke. The centre-back was controversially dismissed for a foul on Charlie Adam 36 minutes into the contest at the Britannia Stadium. Brown appeared to make contact with the ball as he slid in to tackle Adam, who had opened the scoring on the half-hour. Sunderland manager Gus Poyet was incensed by referee Kevin Friend's decision and the club has lodged an intention to appeal it. Poyet demands answers Poyet said after the match: "I hope, maybe I am the first foreign manager to get a call this week from (referees' chief) Mike Riley. "I know that Steve Clarke took a call last week. It happened at a key moment when we were trying to come back. We were then put down to ten without explanation. "If we take every danger out of the game then what do we do? You must then give a penalty for Asmir Begovic's challenge on Steven Fletcher in the second half." Ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher believes Sunderland's Wes Brown should not have been sent off. And Gallagher says referee Kevin Friend made an error, telling Sky Sports News: "I can keep this very short. We have to take it smack on the chin. "The referee has lost concentration or not seen it. It is not a red card, that's all you can say. "Brown's gone in hard but he's entitled to do that. As a refereeing body you have to take that smack on the chin."
I know what your saying, with mensah we didnt find out until the thursday http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...hn-Mensah-wins-appeal-red-card-Liverpool.html
My point is that us having too appeal means that Friend thinks he got it right on the day (he is the only person in football too think that, mind you) so the FA are going to consider his report and them going against what the ref did on the day are as rare as hens teeth, hence this awful feeling about the outcome for us, hope I'm entirely wrong though.
Probably doesnt help but i'm not worried in the slightest. 'Potential' dangerous play, which is what enemy said was the reason, does not exist
It has to be rescinded otherwise it will be the day the tackle dies, that would whip up a **** storm and a half for the FA. There'll be hell on. Friend claims it was the speed Brown went in. But there's no speed limit. He's made up a rule and enforced it. We can't lose.
Mate, I was on the FA website earlier, they had Brown down for a three game ban for 'Serious foul Play' but it has been removed now. Probably because we have lodged the appeal.
Aye and mr enemy has been dropped for the weekend 25 minutes ago @Martycricket Kevin Friend will not be involved in the Premier League this weekend, the BBC understands. @SAFCofficial
Because that's what Friend will have put in his match report. He's wrong of course but it's what he sent him off for init
We can lose mate. There was (apparently) contact (however slight) with the player (who made the most of it) on the follow through. Read that sentence again without the brackets and don`t be surprised if the card stands.
But I thought follow through was irrelevant if the ball is played first and the tackle wasn't dangerous, which is wasn't in anyway.
Couple years ago, Michael Turner was sent off, the ref backed him in an appeal, Turner got an extra game ban for a frivolous appeal, remember that?
Ho fatha! Dee yee nar warra think will happen? They will rescind the card then fine gus for his reaction so as not to have total egg on pyatt
