Its a name change, compared to were we could of been it is not that important, look at the positives and ask yourself, who will I support now the club has gone. I know I titled the thread 'Allam WILL walk away' but I didn't intend that to mean immediately, as in walk out and hand in the keys. What he may do in retaliation is minimises his losses - which would mean no funds for transfers, paying back as much of his loans from PL money and basically winding down his investment to cut his losses (which would still be substantial). Sometimes even the best of businessmen make poor decisions. Knowing when to cut loose and minimise losses is part of that process. This is what I meant by 'walking away'. And the lack of news from the club today worries me.
I don't see it. I see a man who walked in and saved us. I see a man that wants to do the best he can without continuously spending millions per year of his own money. I see a man who wants to put our football club on a more secure footing so we don't have top rely on him in the future, or anyone else for that matter. Surely you can see that?
I can, but I can't see how changing our name will remedy it. I can see that a continued run in the PL, maybe even a few solid cup runs, who knows perhaps even a final, as Hull City will go someway to giving the club greater exposure to foreign markets & thus increasing revenue over a sustained period. I cannot begin to understand how changing our name to Hull Tigers will in any way achieve increased revenue. I once heard (I don't know if it's true) that if you had a shorter brand name it increased your chances of success, with this in mind I fail to see why Mr Allam would lengthen the name of Hull City to Hull Tigers.
If that's what he wants, then he'll have to find a way of doing it, as suggesting that switching City to Tigers is going to do that job is quite simply ridiculous. He also won't put us into admin, the only person who wouldn't get paid is him.
These wedged-up foreigner types watching in the Far East hoping for some Tiger action.....will they be likely to invest in a club with a repressive dead atmosphere or one with a noisy happy colourful successful one? Surely not even the daftest wealthiest foreigner would put money into a club because of a cute name? Did Tiger Cola do much in the Far East?
To be fair, I am not bothered either way about the name as long as it has Hull in there and that is were we play. About the rest of what you say, you have made some good points. But he thinks this is the right way to go and his motives are still correct, no matter what way he goes about things. As football fans we tend to be traditionalists which is fine but they can not keep getting in the way of progress. He might make a mistake with the name change, but it will be a genuine mistake. If the out of control idiots keep spouting the utter drivel and nastiness then there is a real risk that he could walk. As far as I am aware there is not a big Queue to step in his shoes. People need to remember that. Look at the big picture!
Our players aren't worth anything like £66m and he's now lumbered with a £39m a year wage bill, he needs long term Premier League football to have any chance of getting his money out.
