What worries me more is the unscrupulous players that come up against us in the near future, will be chucking themselves on the floor at the slightest contact. Our players will have to be ultra cautious and the oppositon will know this and capitalise on it.
These decisions are a menace. You could say it makes up for Larsson getting away with a bad challenge against City, but that doesn't make it right. If Larsson should have got a red, he should have got a red. Wes Brown's challenge was not even a booking and most certainly not a red, so he should have stayed on the pitch. These refs have to be more accountable either way.
Nope as we only a small club in the NE the refs think we do not matter and what they do to our players is of little consequence...We do not have players of Rooney's stature you see..but it is OK to send Catts off because of his rep! I wonder if Ellis Short could set a hoard of barristers onto the 'powers that be' hitting them with a number of civil actions for what is basically bias and loss of earnings (if poor decisions cause relegation)and for not using VT to get decisions right in other words unprofessional behaviour and pleading ignorance when the remedy is obvious.
Sorry everyone. I havnt read all of the previous threads so apologies if anything is repeated. Not the first time this season referreing decision have gone against us. The goal against Arsenal then failure to send the guy off, cattermoles red card although a lesser argument for that or more the fact that the Hull player wasnt sent off later and then this Staurday with Brown and the failure of any decision following the keeper's high footed challenge on Fletcher. And obviously seeing the challengers at the weekend that only received yellows. Have I missed any others? Obviously there is not a conspiracy against our club but it f**king feels like it. All we can do is stay together and fight. Expecting the red card to be overturned shortly like but it looks like its us against the world. Hopefully Gus can keep us playing the way we are now with 10 and 9 men and the goals and points will come.
This for me is the biggest problem with refereeing today. I don't believe for a second that there's any back-handers or other forms of corruption going on. I also don't think its always down to competency of the individual. For me its the spotlight on the referee and his perception of how he's going to be regarded in the press post-match. Thats why Rooney, Suarez, etc, etc get away with the 50:50 decisions and the Wes Brown's of this world, don't. Any referee knew over the last few years that the likes of Fergie, Wenger, etc, could make or break a ref's career depending on the level of his backlash immediately after a game. Thats why they had to be 125% sure of the decision. They're less likely to be concerned by a Pardew, Poyet, Jol, etc, "whinge" after the match. It's this inconsistency that making a mockery of the game, and until the referee's fear of trial-by-tv/press is abated there'll be no improvements in consistency of performance on their part.
You are right, we will never get the three points back, that's why Friend should be punished for his performance.
gonna be interested to hear what monday night club on radio 5 make of this, if they bring it up at all that is.
I think it's down to the referees going power crazy in some instances. Take yesterday for example, Rooney should have been sent off...what else happened at Cardiff? We were pulled around the pitch by a 'relegation favourite', we struggled and we couldn't hold on to our lead, no Van Persie no heart. Oh and Fellaini got hit in the face on purpose by a Cardiff defender but let's just ignore that because it doesn't fit in with 'big clubs get all the decisions their way'. If that guy got sent off we could have won the game, we didn't we got a draw...still more than we deserved I guess. The referee didn't want to spoil a game for handbags and I'd much rather both players got away with what were both silly fouls but nobody got hurt in. We have no excuses for not winning that game now, I'm sure we'd have blamed Rooney if he'd have been off and we drew it. Pulling apart 'bigger' sides/players who play for 'bigger' sides to support an argument about **** refs is unnecessary, the refs do all the talking on their own. Most refs in this division are consistently making mistakes in every game, corners, free kicks, bookings, red cards, time added on...their entire role is borderline redundant. Too many rule changes and grey areas mean they can't do their job as well, and the refusal of some fat washed up sack of **** to introduce a piece of basic tech that's implemented in most sports except football, the most widely watched sport in the world.
It's all I've read about. Almost every media outlet I've looked has done a piece. It's pretty big news like Cest. Here's a bit of reading for you fella. There's also 100s of articles on the incident itself and poyets reaction too, as well as articles into the can of worms Riley has opened following Poyets comment and riley himself apologizing to west brom. http://www1.skysports.com/football/...s-right-red-browns-bad-red-and-rooneys-no-red http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25082495 http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...gher-shines-spotlight-on-officiating-blunders http://tyneandwear.sky.com/sunderla...brown-gets-support-from-former-premier-league http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/football-gallagher-brown-red-wrong-112430991--sow.html http://www.sport.co.uk/football/gallagher-brown-red-wrong/4502535/ http://metro.co.uk/2013/11/24/kevin...t-go-unpunished-as-sunderland-suffer-4199677/
I wasn't responding to anything you had written, I tailor everything for you my friend, so you can join in. Quick, get your 'boring' comment in.
Cool, thanks man. I'll explain if anybody needs it explaining too. On a separate note, feel free to block me pal, if you find me at all boring or indecipherable I really won't mind.
