How can this be done when the team has no attacking players on the field.
Morning all, still on the cold side here, but dry. They tell me that I will not see any rain for several days now which is a bit of a relief. Off to Le Clerc to create a fuss. The tirimisu I was going to have last night has mold growing on the top. Still plenty of time before the best before date expires, so my best but firm French will be called into action. Mme is not coming. She doesn't enjoy me getting into forceful mode.
Thanks for the caramel latte Ak, hopefully something will click into place soon and you will start winning games!
Well that was successful. Mind you it did require me to call for the supervisor. "Can't do anything without the ticket" and raised shoulders. I pointed out that selling food with mold on it didn't require a ticket to prove that it was not fit to eat. Disgruntled supervisor, but what did I care? Money returned and I bought another dessert from a different store.
He's done the right thing coming home. Some things are more important than cricket. Marcus Trescothick's very honest account of his own battle with depression is worth reading.
Maybe Geoff Boycott was right earlier when he said that today's batsmen rarely have the opportunity to face up to hostile fast bowling - Mitchell Johnson's forte when on song. Johnson certainly had him in panic mode, so who knows?
Couldn't agree more - mental health issues are still not taken as seriously as they need to be and i honestly think some see stress and depression as a sign of weakness. This is particualrly true in professional sport. My post was more bemoaning the timing (for which i do not hold Mr Trot in any way responsible) and i'd have said the same had he broken a leg.
JT returning home makes it more understandable what Alastair Cook said in his post-match press conference about David Warner's comments in the media. As for Michael Clarke only being fined 20% of his match fee for his comment that Jimmy Anderson should expect his arm to be broken, I think that is a let-off. He is captain and is supposed to set an example therefore his punishment should mean that he is made an example of and he should not be in the Australian team in Adelaide.
Very sad news for him and the team, watching him bat in this test, his head did not seem right. I hope he recovers and gets back to being a reliable solid batsmen. To think he was international player of the year a couple of years ago.
Did not Napoleon say Britain was a nation of shop keepers, so now OFH has put one in the eye of the French version.
I was not aware of that comment and since when did cricket become a combat sport. He should miss the next match and be relieved of this matches match fee in total. I know they want to win but that is not the right way, however we should remember bodyline.
Bodyline was a tactic to get top order batsmen out, or at the very least stop them scoring, but Michael Clarke was talking about breaking the arm of a tail ender when the match was almost over. It would be interesting to know what the punishment would have been for Alastair Cook if he'd said something similar about Nathan Lyon.
