I had issues with most of the film but the biggest problem was with Jeremy Renner's character, I like Renner, he's a good actor but a psychotic like that would never get anywhere near a EOD team. Secondly, EOD teams don't drive around combat zones on solo missions. Where the movie really showed it's US bias was in it's portrayal of the British unit led by Ralph Feinnes (They were SAS supposedly). Hiding in a ditch while the Yanks use Feinnes' Barratt rifle to take out the baddies. I'm all for suspension of disbelief but I have my limits.

    2 Guns

Denzel Washington and Mark Walberg in a pretty good crime caper . Can't say much as there are quite a few twists and turns . It's not short of gaping holes in the plot too .

Still , very enjoyable and certainly worth a watch .

There is a very good rip in all the usual outlets .

    Watched:

Parker: typical statham film reasonably enjoyable yet predictable.

Now you see me: silly film really. Pointless and a couple of hours of my life wasted. Thankfully I was in bed watching so it didn't matter.

Just noticed someone posted Black Swan on the horror thread. Watched it at the weekend (her choice). Didn't expect to enjoy it but was it was excellent. I can see why Natalie Portman was awarded an Oscar for her performance.

She was a bit skinny in it for my liking. Still, I enjoyed the muff diving scene, Very, erm, artistic.

Just back from the flicks . Watched Gravity . Fantastic .

Don't normally go for the 3D versions of films . Not a big fan and find most of it pretty pointless . This film is probably what they invented 3D for . The whole film is pretty breath taking . If you haven't seen then go and make sure you get the specs .

Imax would be even better . Infact I may well go back to see it in that format .

Saw it at the pictures and watched it again on DVD at the weekend.

Very dark, very British and very funny.

What was it about the title of the movie which attracted you to it? <whistle>

I've seen Gravity twice now since Saturday. It's right up there with my favourite films. Thrilling all the way from start to finish.

Anyone on the fence - go see it. It's awesome.

I was on the fence before last week. Really glad I ended up seeing it. I just wasn't sure about a whole movie set in space with just two characters up there, which has been praised mostly for its visuals, suspense and acting. The trailers did nothing for me, and the few reviews I've read made me suspicious that it would be simply a vehicle for Cuaron and Lewbezki (his cinematographer) to experiment with their visual mastery. Which is always really cool, but I usually need a little more from my movies.

Anyway, the film is much more than National Geographic space images. It's a truly unique experience full of awe and feeling. The music adds so much to it, which I did not expect. And the last 20 minutes or so are actually very powerful in terms of story, character journey, and big themes.

Agreed - if you can, get the soundtrack - it's got some fantastic tracks on it.
