I am behind the game on this development. A couple of days ago the boyos were stating Malky was going West for £300k compensation. My consistent reply to Cardiff is Malky can do so much better.

Nothing has changed, I can see Baz the Bankrupt (BtB) accepting a compensation figure like £300k (I think he would sell his own mother for half that), that is the problem with a clown being in charge. We have long said BtB knows nothing about football and now that he has installed himself as CEO with a £150k salary I wouldn't rule anything out.

But my message still remains - Malky can do so much better than Cardiff. I can understand Malky leaving Watford, as it is clear we are a club slipping down a dangerous slope, but surely he can wait for something better.

I totally agree Elixir. I can't see Malky swapping like-for-like, which a move like this would be. Unless of course a schism has opened up between him and the new club hierarchy and he just wants out. Which, sadly, is a real possibility.

If he can continue to beat the odds this season then it's very likely a mid-to-lower Premiership team will come in for him sooner rather than later - and he'll be off.

A fair guess Saxet, the Villa job still remains an indirect threat, if it sparks a managerial merry go round!

boys if he comes to Cardiff he will be given financial backing, as for our two clubs, your average crowd is about 13k when our is about 23k in a state of the art stadium and state of the art training facilities, we are a bigger club than Watford even if your recent history shows you as doing slightly better, However if Mackay gets us promoted he will also be a legend, our pulling power for good players is better than you can offer, aka Bellamy etc. We will have a good team to start the season, We were in a much worse position this time last year and we still made the playoff's and if it wasnt for Jones getting a drip like Bywater on loan we may well have got up automatically, dont write us off, we will be ok. I know it may sound upsetting for Watford fans to be losing your manager but that is football and if anybody thinks there is loyalty in this day and age they are truely mistaken. Good Luck for next season and i have always got on very well with your fans either at Vicarage road or at Ninian/CCS. I used to watch you lot regularly when i was Based in Northwood when i was in the RN and enjoyed many great saturdays watching the Hornets, however i am a Cardiff fan through and through and wish you no ill. Be Lucky

Can't see how you're in a better position now then last season.

Players are fleeing Cardiff as the debts rise...no Bothroyd, Chopra looks like he's going and you won't have 5+ loanees to make up the squad any more.

You're a bigger club so there will always be some money...but I can see you being average next season.

Ref the loyalty, I agree ,however it was refreshing to see Martinez stay at Wigan and not be tempted by a bigger club at Villa, lets hope this starts a new trend in football, though I wont hold my breath! Good luck to you also!

No - you are not a bigger club. You just have a better stadium. We have a superb Youth Academy that is generating the next generation of youngsters. The history of the last 40 years has us above you most of the time - hardly just "recent" and "slightly better"

You spent most of the years 1985 to 2000 in the bottom two divisions, only got back to the Championship in 2003 and have not gone higher since. We have spent all of that time in the top two divisions.

Your average attendance in the 8 years you have been back have been 16.4k whilst ours has been 15.4k over the same period - not a lot in it. The last 3 years has boosted your average as under Peter Risdale you have been near the top for those 3 years whilst he was near bankrupting you - we on the other hand have struggled due to near administration without a Peter Risdale - and we would not want him seeing what he has done to Leeds and Cardiff financially.

If Malky leaves us he will do so for something better than Cardiff I am afraid

I saw ...... (bore). You state "we are a bigger club than Watford even if your recent history shows you as doing slightly better". WOW, there are probably 50 clubs who "are bigger than Watford" right now. The point is Malky has kept us competitive against this background.

You Welsh plumbs need to realise MacKay will leave Watford soon, and he will go with our blessing. If Aston Villa come in for him this summer, I would honestly say to him "you deserve this opportunity, good luck", and I will give him a huge welcome if he ever came to Vic rd again. But if he goes to Cardiff, then he will HAVE to visit us next season and that will be a strange feeling. I will still welcome him, but I will still believe that he could have done so much better.

Cardiff City haven't been in the top flight since 1962, and there you have it ....... 50 years is a long, long time. Honestly Cardiff are nothing special with a debt many times the average in the football league. And I thought we were at the financial limit!

For what its worth Skybet and other bookies have MM evens favourite for the Cardiff job:(
However he was a nailed on cert for Burnley plus others! Normally I would dismiss this ,but if he is unhappy with recent developments it gives him an out!
Personally I think he should wait ,he will get a bigger better job offer than Cardiff!

That merely reflects what some people with more money than sense think and is probably miles away from reality.

I don't think that MM needs to wait for a bigger and better job than Cardiff - he already has one in that category:biggrin:

I am satisfied that all us genuine Watford fans agree - Malky should stay and continue the good work at Watford until a brilliant Premier League opportunity comes up.

I fear the compensation figure is now out there - just £300k for our Championship future ....... not much eh?

Yes he should stay and wait for a prem opportunity ,I have seen that figure too.although if he has recently signed a new contract surely it would have to compensate for amount of time left on contract ! Thus the figure would have to be larger!

Norway, how much would you value our Championship future. In my book it is worth £10m per season each season, but I know managerial compensation never gets to that figure.

Reading paid £500k for BR ........... maybe that is the max we might get.

personally, I suppose it is the difference for a couple of years of lost revenue between championship and L1 and loss of more tv money etc!
I would say your not far off with £10m per season, season tickets would drop ,less people , less shirt sales ,less food and drink and programme sales , all adds up!
In our present condition it would be a massive blow!

No - but saw that we scraped a 24-21 win. Still top of the table even though having a bad spell.
