If the club nose dives down the league's the majority of moaners won't even bother watching the team.....Just Like thousands never bothered when we really were ****

The more I read the more feel this is just an Anti Allan Campaign ....hidden behind the name change ..

Perhaps they all know him to be the overbearing old twat he is now doing his best to prove to the world at large; he is certainly being successful at that. <laugh>

Given the crux of Mr Allem's argument is that shorter names make better business sense, I'm not convinced a longer name's really a concession, plus, it's not his decision, he can only apply to the FA.

I'm not asking you what he thinks, I'm asking what you think.

    Ah right, sorry.

I think, given the crux of Mr Allem's argument is that shorter names make better business sense, I'm not convinced a longer name's really a concession, plus, it's not his decision, he can only apply to the FA

Come on Stan. You can do better than DMD's evasiveness. Let's have an honest answer.

How is it evasive? Your 'compromise' isn't one, plus it's not his choice. Seems clear a enough response to me.

It's pretty arrogant to assume that just because a few thousands sang "city til i die" yesterday that suddenly everyone is willing to run the club down for this cause.

May I just remind you that we sing that song at every game ANYWAYS.

Also quite arrogant to assume that people would be willing to do more than just sing for this cause.

Kinda reminds me of a certain Propaganda. I am not happy with the name change and I would probably have sang and joined along if I was there yesterday but it's silly to assume that I would side with CTWD if there was a risk that AA ruins the club as a consequence.

and I think that is probably the case with many yesterday. Singing a song to voice your opinion is one thing. But bullying the owner to change his stance is a whole other.

So I'm sure the majority of fans would want to keep the name ideally but don't think the majority would follow your guidance if there was an ultimatum.

Also without trying to point out the obvious but it's opinion vs opinion at the moment. You claim he is doing this on a whim without any research. But as far as I'm concerned the same is valid for CTWD. If you had evidence that it WON'T bring any extra revenue then you'd have a solid case.

Besides I honestly think he believes it will bring money. If he was doing this to get back at the Council or some other dumb response from CTWD goons then he would call us the Hull butterflies and make us wear rainbow shirts... why does he consider the club colours sacred? why is he keeping the word Tiger? Clearly there's more to it than a spitting his dummy.

I guess thats why a referendum was proposed by CTWD, bt Mr Allam chose not to run one for some reason.

Whoever the chairman was he'd be unpopular if he tried a name change. Are you resorting to the "it's racism" gambit?

You're just being evasive, it's a public forum.

I've put my suggestion for a compromise earlier when I suggested Mr Allem could say something like, his business advisers tell him that a shorter name generates more cash, but he's prepared to forgo the wealth because he's a generous man and he sees that its not what his Hull City fans want.

Two of the arguments which get trotted out:-
The majority are for or against or not bothered - until a vote is carried out NO ONE either from the anti name campaign group or the board of the club can give the definitive answer
It hasn't been proven that the name change will bring in additional revenue (which for one poster seems important to ensure that Allam's inheritance isn't debt to his family) - can the campaign group give us the market research to prove that such a name change will not be of benefit to the club's finances. As I am certain there are people working on the theory that it will make us money and Mr Allam will publish such figures in the presentation that the board gives to the FA when they are debating whether or not to allow the name change.

With regards to him walking away - given the sum of money he is quoted as having loaned us, and the only assets being the players (as he can't mortgage the stadium) and the playing staff are not worth that total (even given the most optimistic supporter's valuations), the only way he can possibly walk away is to find a rich business man (who may not even know where Hull is) and sell the club on BUT given that if such business man was to read this board and see that the fans are divided, with a campaign group - why would anyone want to buy this club if they know that the slightest change (like moving to a stadium the club would actually own - say in Melton), change the club strip because it would be luckier colours or try to modernise certain aspects a campaign group would spring up

But this is my point, a referendum would change **** all.

Clicking a button without knowing the consequences is easy.

Singing a song at a football game is easy.

CTWD won't have much trouble getting people to click a button or sing. They may struggle to get people behind them once THOSE people realise the consequences.

It's not just clicking a button, and the suggestion by CTWD was in response to Mr Allam raising it. As the FA seemingly require one, it may as well be now.

As for the consequences of fans deciding they don't like it, what are you guessing they are?
