Who would it be? Nicked from the Budgie board but it sounds like a good idea for a thread! If I could bring any former Ipswich player back then no surprises in me choosing the best Box to Box Midfielder of his generation and that is Johnny Wark! His goal output from Midfield was astonishing and his 36 goals in 1980/81 won us the UEFA Cup (14 in that comp). Other contenders would have to be Muhren and his magical left foot, Colin Viljoen who was a sublime midfiled maestro and Big Alan Hunter. If you could choose just one player to come back and play in this current day Ipswich side who would it be and why?
Delaney....he knew when to roll over and havehis belly tickled even more the present England middle order. You been drinking Warky? Que hampy....
Treacs is a top Budgie! He is taking me out for a pint and a slap up meal next time i'm in Boughton-on-the-Water.
Good thread warky and will no doubt cause plenty of debate over next few days. The incomparable John Wark is right up there and our Dutch maestro Murhren for sure. But I'm gonna put a call out for Ray Crawford and his goals.
For me it would have to be The Beat, strong in the air, fast, could tackle all day and was even good going forward.
Claus Thomson................................... ..................................I agree we should pick up Ray Crawford..........
I'd say when we had Wrighty, Rosenior and David Wright also the last time we had a prolific striker - 2009. Cheers Roy.
George Burley.....this RB issue is now a real problem, we have no attacking options down our right side. Chambers is solid enough but he has no idea what to do with the ball going forward.
IMO we have a decent yet fairly unexperienced RB that Mick doesn't seem to be comfortable with putting in and I don't know why. He'll put Mings in who IMO isn't as good a player as Hewitt, perhaps it's because Hewitt is more forward minded. To be fair Hewitt did get caught out a little in his first few matches but they weren't terrible mistakes, certainly no worse than Chambers who doesn't offer as much going forwards and he was up against some pretty good players. Hopefully the loan will do him some good as the boy has huge potential, come on Mick take a risk and put him in, as I said he's done no worse than Chambers and certainly offered alot more going forwards!!!
