Exactly, punches when the ref was splitting them up and elbows in the face etc. Groves has won tonight.
One bad eye? Right. If your missus has either of his eyes I feel for you because you're going to bed with a female bouncer. The fact Froch is being booed is disgusting. He didn't make the decision.
groves was gonna win that, manipulated for the rematch, can you expect anything else from the hearn camp?
Froch had done one of Georges eyes by round 2. The jab. Froch has already said rematch... I don't dispute that the decision came far too soon but Froch was special to take that punishment and then come back. As Carl just said... he can't be held accountable for the referee. Well played Froch. A great champion. Well played groves. Soon to be a world champion.
The stoppage was undoubtably early, but what's more baffling is how 2 of the judges had groves only 1 round ahead at the time. Groves was at least 5 rounds ahead (when you include the knockdown) when the fight was stopped. Boxing is becoming a shambles
Not a big fan of theorizing and looking for conspiracies. I will happily remain ignorant if indeed you are right.
Im mixed on this. Stopped early yep, but if you watch the camera view that the ref had I think I would have stopped that too. Groves was taken some mean hits to the chin and looked like he was given nothing back. Hope there is a rematch
i know mate, but there is no way that should have been stopped, no ****ing way. ref was tapped for a re-match, only possible explination, groves wasnt about to be ko'd, wasnt being punished, wasnt unable to respond - those 3 are the rules
But he's being a cocky little twat about it instead of a bit of grace and honesty. You can see in his body language he knows his opponent has been robbed. If you think Groves face is worse than Froch's then you're choosing what you want to see and what you don't want to see.
SO you're crediting Froch for getting battered all match and managing not to get counted out? He battled on well, but was outclassed tonight. The moment when the ref stopped the match, there had been at least 3 or 4 instances when Groves had Froch in a similar position, why was the fight not stopped then. You'll clearly defend Froch no matter what here, it is an utter disgrace and Froch was DESTROYED tonight just admit it.
And he turned his back and walked away from Froch. I can understand the stoppage. That was half a dozen hurtful concussive shots in the space of 10 seconds. He didn't know where he was. I got the living daylights knocked out of me a few months ago. I wish that had been stopped.
WHAT. So they were all in on it. The fact that the judges had that scoring just indicates more clearly that something has been said before the fight. As Mackem Effect has said, they needed to ensure the rematch for the dollars.
Nah to be honest, with regards to this, I'd rather a boxer take one punch too little as opposed to one punch too much. It is tough being a boxing ref.
You're right, but in 3 other rounds Groves was delivering the exact same punishment to Froch. Why was it not stopped then?
FROCH RETAINS WBA AND IBF TITLES Right. Many, many of you seem to be suggesting that Groves should have been given longer. At first I thought the stoppage was premature, but then I saw the replays - he was gone, really gone. The referee then took a look at Groves's eyes, who then fell into his arms. Maybe Groves should have been given a chance to go down and get up. That's from bbc Kinda supports what I said. Think he was hurt badly but should have been given more time atleast a chance to regain his compsure. Also groves face was more messed up than frochs
No that's not what I said. That's your mistake. Read it again. No I'm not admitting that because I don't think it. Had Froch been destroyed he wouldn't have landed those shots at the end.
