We are ****. More to follow. But well done palace, and in act fully deserved, highly unlucky not to have got 2 or 3 more. Our flase league position and poor performances have been seriously masked by a pair of penalties we should never have had. This is a highly talented side but lacks basic guidance and tactics. Steve Bruce is about as tactical as an American in Vietnam.
We're in a false position yes, but the rest of that is balls. McGregor never made a single save, how can they have been 'highly unlucky not to get 2 or 3 more'? The only bit of luck was the last minute melee in the penalty area leading to Rosenior's volley against the post. We didn't deserve to lose even if we were ****e going forward. And those penalties were clear penalties. I wish people would stop buying this Hughton/Allardyce crap that we got unfair penalties. Every manager is biased in interviews and claims the other team's penalty shouldn't have been. Mourinho even claimed that one last week was a clear pen, they have agendas.
Fully deserved? Blimey, what game did I just come from? They were ****, we were worse. 2 or 3-0 would have flattered them, hugely.
Bollocks. We played very poorly but Palace were even worse. We have been playing brilliantly and fully deserve to be where we are. We got one or two fortunate decisions but don't forget the ones we didn't get. Nolan's non-red card, Barry's offside, Barry's tackle taking out our best player for half of the season, Elmo's non-handball at spurs. We were poor today but don't forget how well we have played this season. With players being played in their correct positions and hopefully some new signings in January we will be fine.
We were piss poor today and couldn't string 3 passes together - but we still should have got a point from the game. Can anyone tell me what formation we were playing to start with by the way? And on the subject of penalties let's not forget the one Spurs got against us -so swings and roundabouts.
Really did I see a different game? Yes we were poor. We started brightly Boyde was brought back when he seemed to be in on goal and Palace were pretty much second best. The tug of war with the flag seemed to be a distraction just glad it didnt end like the Cardiff match . Second half Sagbo nearly in on goal and we huff and puff but still pretty much in charge before we seem to be second to the ball to often and passes go astray. Palace have become a lot more pragmatic and broke the game up when they had to. They doubled up on Elmo and cancelled him out effectively. Macca comes off and he had been outstanding. The defence is rejigged the ball is given away sloppily and palace score, For the first time City play with a sense of urgency and we run out of time. Very disappointing in lots of way. But yes we will loose these matches so long as we struggle to score but we are very much not sh...
I had the fortune to view the game from a better tactical perspective than usual, let me say we were set up like ****e. When I'm slightly less pissed I will elaborate more without sounding like a rambling tramp. PLT, if either of those penalties were given against us we'd be ****ing fuming, the one away at spurs was more credible than either of ours and even that was shocking; at least it touched Elmos hand. I figured out prior to saints, should ever desicion been called properly, we are 4 points better off than we should be. Regarding 3 or 4 nil to palace; yes, palace created 3 or 4 chances that they really should have got a goal from. Should Cameron jerome not be the biggest donkey since sir Walter Disney invented eeyore, and bolasie have enough composure to play twinkle twinkle little star on a piano, they would have scored 4 goals from 4 seriously dangerous positions. On the other hand, we didn't get in one dangerous position. Not once. Rosenior hit the post with a speculative 35 yard wallop, we almost got very lucky. Don't let that almost luck cover your eyes. We've been dreadful so far this season, the only real positives are creating real chanes away at man city and valiant defensive performances against blunt Norwich and Spurs sides. Chelsea away was a lucky escape, villa at home was a lucky escape, Everton away should have been a thrashing score line wise if Kone could hit a barn door with a banjo, Sunderland at home was an extremely lucky escape thanks to harder not to concede a draw to 9 men. Southampton away was painfully dreadful. Newcastle away was the only time we've looked seriously competitive at this level.
Nah. We didn't deserve to lose at all. On the contrary we were the better side, but you don't score goals, you're gonna get shafted on occasions. Write it off. Move on. But, for ****s sake Bruce, address it.
Those penalties were penalties because they were fouls in the box. I'd have been fuming if they weren't given. Just because it's in the area doesn't mean you can push people and it not be a foul. I agree we've been lucky with results but not with decisions. On the contrary.
Regardless of how crap Palace were that is 3 points in the bank for Pulis before he drafts in the biggest thugs he can find for his defence in Jan.They were appaling but they will get a lot stronger in 2014.Not sure we will
By definition, there is no such thing as a false position in a league competition. It is impossible for it to be so.
We need to because we are in a season long relegation battle. Results and performances like today will surely highlight to SB that while at least one striker is a priority in January, there are perhaps other areas to strengthen as well.
I don't know if he was offside, memory tellsnmenit was a pull back where he hit the post. Doesn't matter. He also had another chance almost identical that 99%!of times you'd expect to hit the back of the net at any level taken by any player. Irrelevant from my points total anyway, I counted Everton as we should have had 1 point, as on fair ref decisions on goal scoring opportunities it would have been 1-1. PLT, if you can defend our penalties on that logic, then spurs pen was an indisputable stonewall. Handball in the box. The truth was, neither Brady nor Sagbo would have got anywhere near the ball to influence anything at all, both went down extremely lightly, in fact both were definitely dives it pains me to say. No grown man can fall over that easily. Equally, the decsison to reward spurs a penalty was ludicrous, the ball hit Elmos hand yes, but it was hit with such pace from such short range elmo couldn't have got his hand out of the way, and it was tucked in anyway, and it also hit his thigh first - the main point as te ball hitting his thigh stopped it from travelling into a dangerous position before it even touched his hand.
So what if, say, Man U were dreadful, had every goal scored against them ruled out for no good reason, and given penalties in every game until they scored, to put them top of the league? Is that not a false position? It's essentially the same situation for us to a much lesser extent. We lost out on 2 points v spurs and Everton but gained 4 points against Norwich and West Ham (you could argue 5 as west ham had a proper penalty decision denied, but there's no guarantee they'd have scored it, so accurately it's 4 points).
I see the knee jerk reactions have started again after a poor result. It has been identified by most people on this board and pundits alike that this season we have performed well with regards to our resources and personnel. Aside from the first 30 mins at Chelsea and the first half at Southampton we have more than provided a test for our opponents, which as newcomers to the league is all you can ask for. Everybody is in agreement that we need more firepower but the situation is no where near as dire as you make out. We were bound to hit a poor spell during the season, this isn't coming as a surprise and is no excuse to be taking the glass half full attitude. If we were as poor as you say we are, surely these superior sides should have beaten us regardless of any form of good fortune. We shouldn't get carried away after good form and by the same token not get carried away after poor form. In other words, stop being a miserable bastard and taking the pessimistic attitude!
I would suggest you move away from chav corner to somewhere where the fans know their arses from their elbows if I were you. Macca was subbed because he was injured and as soon as he went off we immediately looked fragile at the back and the heads noticeably dipped.
We have looked very poor in just under 75% of our total game time this season. We have looked exceptionally poor in every game since the win away at Newcastle, jaded by an excellent defensive performance against Spurs (and again in the cup). We have an excellent squad, but a clueless manager.
The truth is we have lost a fantastic defender and our two main attacking threats and with a thin squad sooner or later the results will suffer. Time to dig in, stop with the blame culture and pull together until we get players back fit and the squad can be enhanced in January.
