If I think that Wanyama isn't an upgrade because he keeps morphing into an otter and flying off the pitch at crucial moments, is it possible that while the drugs I'm taking are not good for me, they must be considered good overall?
Still laughing at a liverpool fan calling our keeper a joke Who was that fella in the sticks for them back in the day when they won leagues? Also can't understand the comments r.e. Arsenal being the better side. I thought it was pretty even all over. I suppose you could say that they had the better chances although the stats say we had more shots and more possession. Overall I would say the Sky analysis is pretty accurate. 2 good teams that played poorly OR cancelled each other out. I think it was more a case of Schneiderlin and Wanyama for us stopping their midfield playing excellently while for them it was more their defenders not having too much of a problem with our attacking threat. Lallana must've been tired because when he went off we hardly got into their third for 5-10 minutes. One of those to forget and we move onto the Chelsea game. We surely can't play as badly as we did today and Chelsea aren't as good as Arsenal were before these last 2 games plus we are at home.
In the circumstances there was no shame in the quality of our general play and I feel though Arsenal always held an edge we matched them through most of the game, just undoubtedly frustrating to give the game away so cheaply. Here's an interesting stat in the one area where I feel Arsenal truly dominated us, Aerial Duals Won; Saints 4, Arsenal 30. That is fairly remarkable I think.
Wow, that's some stat. I don't remember Rickie winning a single header today which is equally unusual. Isn't it nice to be disappointed to be losing narrowly to the top of the table Arsenal away though?
On way back. Minus the two mistakes we were easily worth a draw. I also didn't particularly think Arsenal were dominant overall. I think we bossed the mid, and Vic was indeed immense. Obviously 2nd half we had to adjust to changes, and the link up play was left wanting a bit. Proud of the players though, and Jay had a good game I thought.
Talking of stats, how often has a team kept a clean sheet for a whole month's fixtures? I'm looking at February and thinking we could do it.
Really pleased for Jay actually - his head could have dropped a bit after the England experience, but he knuckled down and put in a really threatening performance. Pleased for Jos too. He came in and did nothing wrong really.
Wasn't able to stay with the game today so I'm hoping to find a 90 minute recording out there. I think it might be worth watching rather than the obvious MOTD highlights showing Arsenal's efforts.
John Cross on Twitter criticising Pochettino's language skills. That's John Cross...........from The Mirror........
We lost a game through 2 mistakes, but games are usually lost through mistakes. It is rare that a game is won only through scintillating skill. People are still asking if we are the real thing...there was nothing in that game to suggest we aren't. Still confident that we will finish high up the league and in a European place. I am very pleased that most of us are being sensible and not predicting a rapid slide down the table.
I've heard several post match comments from commentators and pundits. All have added that this is nothing like the team of last season, and we deserve to be where we are.
Artur Boruc has made this post on Instagram in reaction to today's error... please log in to view this image
I say they were better because they created better chances. Shots aren't the same as chances. Yes, we had 10 shots but 7 of them were from outside the 18 yard box. Arsenal had 8 shots but 1 of those was from in the six yard box and 5 were in the penalty area. They scored twice and hit the post twice. Only 4 of our shots were on target and I can only remember Szczesny making one save of note. We edged possession overall but Arsenal dominated possession until a few minutes after they scored. They then let us have a lot of the ball in areas that aren't dangerous - Boruc had 62 touches compared to Szczesny's 44 - and were happy to do so because we weren't looking dangerous. Arsenal were better. Not miles better but still better, and there's no shame in that.
People might get on him for making light of it, but that's what I'd want in a keeper. So long as he doesn't do it again, naturally.
There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance, and unfortunately Boruc overstepped that line today. Draw a line under it, and move on. This may have been said before, but I can't be arsed to trawl through the thread.
Wanyama and JayRod were superb today...I was a bit perplexed by Adam going off, we weren't as effective going forward without him...Overall it was a decent performance, which on another day would've earned us a point.
Could someone who isn't afraid of annoying adverts [they probably won't have as much protection as I put in place] have a go at starting the game here: http://www.footballorgin.com/2013/11/premier-league-2013-2014-arsenal-v_23.html I'm getting a could not load plug-ins, file not found... message. Tell me if you get the same. Oh, and dodge the adverts, ta.
