On Sky, saying that Saints gave a good account of themselves and it was pretty even, with Arsenal just deserving it. Added that we deserve to be near the top. As for Boruc, we like him for his craziness when it comes off, so must be careful not to slate him too much when he has a mare. That's for the manager to tell him to cut it out. Note the U18s beat Reading 3.2....good for them as they haven't been as good this season as last.
Wanyama was tremendous. Good game for Rodriguez too. Completely agree with the comments above Re. Lallana's withdrawal...severed all our linkup play
Good game. Thought we had the edge and obviously Boruc and Fonte ****ed up. Southampton is a good team and you can definitely steal a a Europa spot (from Spurs )
It was a hammy. He did carry on to half time. Don't want to say "it's ok" because these things can take any amount of time to heal.
Indeed, I don't get cut up at all if the development squads lose their games, provided it's obvious they've given a good account of themselves, because younger players are often in the age group above, and eventually into the first team. 5 x 18 year olds in the squad at the Emirates..? And JWP just turned 19 last week. It's impressive.
A bit. Pulled his hamstring, looked in pain, got back up, hobbled around for the next ten minutes or so, seemed to have run it off by half time. Obviously not though.
Artur thinks he's Gazzaniga..! He's a GOALKEEPER. Not a footballer. Gazzaniga is the closest goalkeeper we have to also being a footballer. But he's still a keeper only.
But looking on the bright side, taking him off at halftime was probably precautionary. He was moving more freely by the end of the half.
Just to say if there is anybody out who still thinks Wanyama isn't an upgrade then them drugs you are taking are not good for you..
Strange game. We were decent defensively but didn't create too much going forward and Arsenal were definitely the better side, certainly the best I've seen Southampton play this season. It's a little frustrating that we made two stupid mistakes and gifted them both their goals but a loss at the Emirates is no big deal. Wanyama was excellent, Lambert was poor (although I thought he was left quite isolated at times, particularly in the first half) and Osvaldo looked fairly lively but didn't get much service. Poch's subs weren't great but fair play to him for trying something different. I think we could do with trying to recruit a little more creativity in January.
So glad to see someone sum up my thoughts! Listening to the completely biased commentators when watching the game I could have been brainwashed but when I saw what they had to say about us on SSN I was pleased to hear the true perspective. If we can get Lovren, Lallana and Shaw back in then it will be watch out Chelsea!
